I miss a haircut. Luckily, under these circumstances, my wife likes my hair long. I look like Yosemite Sam or General Custer, almost. I had regular haircuts as a kid. I never grew my hair long until I got out of the Navy, to discover it is sort of wavy. I was a late adaptor, long post Beatles. If I wash it often, it looks okay. If I miss a shower, it gets scraggly. It feels better short, but perhaps it looks better a little long. My sister had a barber show her how to cut her husband's hair, which is a savings and maybe a better haircut. How are your haircuts going, or not going? I remember haircuts on the ship, done by one of our cooks. Not great, but okay, just basic short cut. It was nice to have a haircut on the fantail with the wind blowing away the hair, and the ship rocking and pitching. Best, it didn't cost a dime.

You can hate me but I haven't paid for a hair cut in years. Always could talk some friend girl into doing it for me since the time I gave my self a hare krishna hair do. And my girlfriend now does such a good job people ask if she'll cut their hair for money. I used to cut her hair and now she just does it her self. So in other words being stuck at home till last Monday actually meant more hair cuts not less.

Mine's getting well past my shoulders at this point. The long hair was fun before this, being a musician and all. But without the perks it's starting to become a bit of a nuisance. I keep tying it back when I need to do tasks, which gives me headaches. And it takes so long to wash it, which I only do once a week or less. Thinking it might be time to cut the mop in half. Definitely great for the savings though, only getting a trim once a year. When I used to keep my hair short, I'd have to go in every month or two.

I think my last haircut was in November 2019, "for the holidays." When I look in the mirror, I want to do an impression of Ben Gun, the character in Robinson Crusoe who conducts lively conversations with himself because he's been stranded alone on the island for years. I do admire having a hair stylist in-house or being able to trim it yourself. In grade school, the woman across the street would drive her two sons and me down into the city to get bargain haircuts from an older woman who had a huge "library" of comic books to feast upon while I waited for my turn, or after. She had a collection that put the local newsstand to shame. The two other other boys did well. One is some sort of finance professional in NYC, and the other is an M.D. in the hospital where I was born. Maybe they're both retired by now; I've lost track. We'd ride to the city in their great big Plymouth Belvedere which floated on its suspension.

Haven’t had a downtown “store bought” haircut in 3 years. Not since I became semi-retired (Ha!) and started working exclusively at home in July 2017.
Before that I was shelling out big bucks at a fancy salon.
Luckily, my wife likes to cut my hair and she is very good at it.
MOF, it looks about time for an appointment with my in-house stylist now.
@mso489, have you considered Willy Nelson braids?

I had the same problems when I had very long hair, it's a pain in the arse. Especially in the summer, when it would get really hot and sweaty.
I did used to tie it in a man bun sometimes........ I'm sorry, very sorry?

I’ve found it surprisingly easy to cut my own hair. A #3 buzz with the clippers or sometimes a fade 3 to a 4, and my wife straightens the back. Dont think i will be going back to the barber. Dont see the need.

I blend instead of fading. Starting in the front and working back: 8.5, 8.0, 7.5, 7.0, and 6.5 at the crown.

For the sides working top to bottom: 6.0, 5.5, and 5.0 at ear level.

In back starting at ear level and working down the neck: 4.5, 4.0, 3.5, and 3.0 at the hair line.
