It’s good to hear, from multiple folks, that “getting it” takes a while. As a newbie, my main hurdle is smoking too damn fast. it didn’t take me that long to find what I like in pipes and tobacco, but I suspect those tastes will eventually shift. In the meantime, I’m enjoying the process of learning to slow down and the tongue bite has subsided !

Number one reason for tongue bite is smoking too fast/ hot. Slow, slow, slow. Relights are ok. Take your time and enjoy the ride.
