As I get older I find less interest in “passive” activities like watching movies/TV or reading. I have to be actively creating something for it to be of much interest.

Hope you get things figured out.

As I have gotten older, I have noticed that my practice of watching/reading/listening, etc. has changed. I have less tolerance for certain things and I will go through spells of just completely ignoring the news as it has gotten so polarizing and depressing.

Oh, and another thing is I absolutely despise talking on the phone. I like texting and email, but unless it is my wife or son, I will usually just let a phone call go to voicemail. Oh well.....

I hate texting and much prefer a phone conversation. Different strokes and all that.

Keep finding new things to do. Nothing productive, but something to engage my mind.

Keep saying I'll get back on cycling, but getting my butt outside is truly hard.

My preferences are specific. Some people get texts, some phone calls. With my two closest friends, both are used depending on the situation.
What turns me off of some phone usage is when the calls turn in to long, drawn out small talk discussions about trivial stuff. One of my old friends, who I believe should have been born in the 1800's and is probably the finest horseman I have ever known, will get on there and draw out old stories that he has told me a dozen times. I know where it is going, but I try to sound tickled each time. I wish he would learn to text, but no such luck.

But as you said, some folks I know I can get on the phone with and it won't draw out for a half hour. Those I don't mind.

Isn't that what conversations with old friends are for? Haha

I know that the conversations I have, with the few longtime friends of mine, always turn into the same conversations we've had a thousand times.

Speaking of such, I need to call Jake and see what the hell he's been up to.

Start a small hobby farm.
We did this 21 years ago.
The plan was some chickens, a hog or 2, maybe some rabbits and a goat.
Two decades later.......
A dozen plus cattle at any one time, dozens of chickens, turkeys, ducks and geese. A bunch of hogs, goats, sheep, rabbits, horses, mules, 9 stocked ponds and grow all our own food, and our animals food. :)
Not much time for tv or reading.
We do read a lot though....and watch TV occasionally.
