I was using the 1 gallon 7 mil gusseted bags. The dimensions of the bags are included in the description on the site. You can check them against the dimensions of the bags you want to protect.
Thank you. And I can use a regular food saver vac sealer on these? My guess is they wont vacuum without the channels but would seal fine.

You can try that. I bought a Kipozzi Nano professional styling iron, which was TopMylar’s recommendation, and it works great! Takes me about 20 seconds to do the heat sealing per bag. It allows me to set an exact temperature.

It’s my understanding the mylar bags that are smooth on both sides are Heat Sealed, there are supposedly hacks to use them.

But there are mylar bags that are dimpled/textured on one side, not smooth on both sides, that are suppose to work, and are recommended.

Kopp said they ship their tobacco by boat, and it’s not in sealed containers, and extra PG is not added for shipping…

2-3 weeks in an unsealed container by ship… 🤔

So, like every other un-tinned tobacco.....I don't think there's any reinventing or breaking of the wheel here.
No there’s not, but it does go back to my original argument that Laudisi misled the consumer that these were blends that were the same offering as in Germany. Without saying that they were blended there and packaged here.

I returned my 18 tins…so someone is able to grab them from SmokingPipes now. They kindly ensured I paid for the opportunity to see for myself they were packaged here. 🤬

@MavErik I’m with you, that I would of preferred everything done in Germany. But I wouldn’t of gone that far yet, without at least giving some a go.

Kopp said they didn’t add more PG for shipping, but hopefully that also means, it’s not heavily dosed with it either from the start, therefore, their reply to say, no more is added, maybe because they add a lot already.

I personally like blends without it, so I’ve been gravitating more to G.L. Pease, since Greg doesn’t use it.

@sablebrush52 :)

I hope with these Foodsaver bags they are good long term.

Foodsaver bags are polyethylene, which is not a very good oxygen barrier, especially when compared to Mylar, which is BoPET, a polyester. But they are better than your average soft plastic bag because they have a layer of nylon added for extra strength, and they can be evacuated (but not easily flushed with inert gasses).

If you have a Foodsaver machine, your best bet would be to look into using these bags which are Mylar laminate, but compatible with the Foodsaver machine. I have not tried them, but they look good on the interwebs..

I'm glad you were able to return the tins if that's what you wanted. Again, this isn't anything new. Stonehenge Flake, for example, was manufactured in GH and tinned by C&D and I'm sure this is the case for a number of blends across manufactures/brands.

I'm not sure how it's misleading unless they're specifically promoting it as blended and tinned in Germany.

But they ARE the same blends that are offered there... You basically returned them because they were put in a tin here instead of there? Ok.

I was actually looking at these on Amazon, which are the same. :)

That's irrational, but your prerogative.

They had loose tobacco in a cargo hold? Doesn’t make sense. How did it get offloaded? Pitchforks?

I assumed they meant when I asked, they weren’t placed in any special sealed type of a container, which made it seem like the tobacco didn’t really receive any special type of packaging. I’ll be sure to ask if they can clarify how it was packed.

2-3 weeks in bad ambient conditions being shipped by boat, not in a good container, or an environmentally controlled ship container, hmm not exactly the way I pictured this.

I hope everyone realizes when you ship by boat, it’s in metal containers outdoors on the deck of the boat, roasting in the day, and freezing at night. Unless it’s in environmentally controlled containers, which Kopp told me they didn’t use anything special.

A friend of mine had a shipping container, he got a hold of one to put all sorts of stuff in to store. Have any of you walked inside one of these during the day? I have, and the heat and humidity inside is absolutely insane, during the day in the sun.

Attached are 2 pics of the promoted label for Director's Cut from SP. As this is a brand new to America series, what on these labels tells you that this is packaged in the US? SP didn’t provide any other info such as the back label that would have shown it was packaged here.

Many of you continue to defend Laudisi and others who package European brands here, as good as gold. Yet we know that this tobacco was likely treated like Kopp’s and thrown in a plastic bag as bulk and boxed inside of a container and freighted across the pond where it sat in heat waiting for Customs clearance and then transported to SC. Yet it’s just as good as HU packaged tins that are packaged in-house without all of the heat soak, humidity changes and extra handling. All assuming no additional PG was added…

Look I am not adept enough to tell the difference and probably neither are most of you. I just wanted to be given the opportunity to choose based on honest representations. If you don’t care, awesome. I for one do.
