I am practicing with a corn cob while I get the hang of this, especially when it comes to proper packing. I am using drug store tobacco now since I'm still in that "what-the-heck-are-you-doing?" stage. The corn cob is a terrific smoker and a good teacher.

My 3 cobs and my "cheap" falcon are some of my best smoking pipes. You don't need to spend a fortune for a good smoker. I do have briar pipes that cost more, but I love the way they look. They also don't smoke bad, but not as consistently good as the cobs and falcon.

The problem with that in a cob is that it liquifies the lacquer MM uses, and smears the stain.

No one seems to talk about this on the Google or YouTube. Noticed rim getting scorched, but spit and shine doesn't seem to work like on briar. Just let it get darker and darker? Or is there a solution?

Alcohol swab For corn cob rims. Not inside but the top. So easy works great. If it’s light stuff. Don’t need to worry about stain removal etc. I use them a lot for that purpose.
