I’m 40, had my first pipe 23 years ago, and started in earnest with piping 13 years ago.

Right about the same here, except it was then and all men's university; girls were imported. Tried some Middleton's, Sail, Borkum Riff, and others I've forgotten. Fortunately the Dean of Students smoked Burlington Arcade, and got me started with it. A long defunct English blend. (Harry A Tint and Sons, Philly)

50. I've always been interested in pipes and pipe smoking but just started. It didn't take me long to realize that this, like guitars, is a hobby prone to the seemingly never ending mass acquisition of items. (pipes, supplies, tobacco, etc.)

I gave up a hobby that has always been a money pit and quickly jumped into another. Must be a personality disorder.

BTW - I've adopted my father's formula re: age; subtract 1 year for every birthday after age 50.

He is now 7 & 1/2 years old, & I am 36, going on 35 years old.

About 140! Everyone in my house when I was growing up smoked a pipe with the exception of the women but then we don't talk about Aunty Maude! I started around the age of 15 I think. It was so long ago I don't remember!

55 years old.First smoked a pipe in 1980,a Wally Frank from their shop in Huntington,New York.With the exception of a one year cigar kick,I have been a pipe smoker all these years.
