How Often Do You Rub Out Flakes.

Noticed most of my current rotation is either flake or broken flakes. I usually just fold and stuff. But when I don't feel like waiting for hours for the flake to dry out, I'll fully rub it out.

How often do you rub out your flakes?

Everytime for me. I haven't had a lot of luck with folding.

I often rub out cakes and put them back in the tin or into jars.

My go-to is Deluxe Navy Rolls which I rub out the whole tin and get it into a jar. So I guess my answer would be every time I open a new tin. About once a week.

After folding and before stuffing, give it a little work out. Bend it few times, twist it.. This gives better place for ember to get hold of. And whatever falls out, rub it finely and use it as tinder.

I'm like @Coreios in this regard; I rub out almost everything, save for Peter Stokkebye LBF.

every time. I could fold and stuff a thinner flake like LNF, but I still like to break it up. Maybe if I was smoking in some windy conditions, but when it gets too windy, I I don't smoke. It might as well be raining if it is windy.

Depends on the pipe. If it's a typical smaller "flake pipe" with a tall narrow chamber I'll fold and stuff. For a pipe with a larger chamber I'll usually rub it out. Has more to do with the amount of time I have to smoke than any other factor, since folded and stuffed flakes tend to burn a lot slower than loose/rubbed out tobacco.

I very rarely rub out a flake. I fold & stuff and let the tobacco sit in the pipe for awhile before lighting. That usually works well for me.

Sorry, feeling a bit juvenile today. In all seriousness, I rub out flakes EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I also dry 99% of the flakes after I rub them out, usually for at least an hour.

I wish that I had the time to prep flakes by cube cutting every time, but sometimes rubbing it out or wadding it up just fits in my allotted time frame. I have no idea how many times... I don't smoke flakes as often as ribbon, but that isn't because of animosity towards flakes, just how it works out.

I use a mini food chopper to chop up enough flakes to put in a half pint mason jar. This is what I use to chop up the flakes:

I predominantly fold and stuff if the flake allows it. C&D "flake" I usually rub out 75% of the way to ribbon. I like to have some chunks in there to slow down the bowl and add some flavor.

I love the European flakes, especially Mac Baren flakes. Always perfect and usually one flake = one bowl which makes things easy.

Only when I get to the bottom of a jar and the remaining broken flakes aren't uniform enough to approximate a fold and stuff pack. Otherwise, always fold and stuff
