This was my largest order from SP. 06/10/2016 Total: $1,938.00 Items: 126 Status: Shipped Tracking: 1Z9YA2750374912235
I might have had a bigger order from PC but they lost my history.

These amounts are nothing in comparison to some of my cigar orders back in the day. Those could run 3-5 grand if the specials were right. I had a few years in a row that I would spend around 25 grand a year. I was very careful to never leave a paper trail.

Working to maximize my purchasing power, I usually buy enough to trigger free shipping and combine it with sales and special offers.

I've slowed way down now, as my cellar feels "good enough". Average order size was around $100. I don't think I ever hit $200 on a single order, though I've occasionally had that much tobacco inbound from several sources.

Yowza! I can't imagine having as much tobacco on hand as some of you. I'm pretty satisfied with my cellar and it would be a bit ridiculous to keep buying considering I'm probably not going to live to the age of 200 so there is a reasonable time to quite buying and start enjoying. These days I buy a tin of something new....... maybe. And I smoke 3-4 bowls a day.

I but what I am comfortable with and what I know I'll smoke. The biggest threat to my cellar in my mind at least isn't not being able to afford or being allowed to get tobacco but my own tastes changing. Though if you're buying in those quantities I'd suggest finding a couple favorites you can buy lbs of at a time. It's amazing how much a tin feels like a rip off when you can get bulk much cheaper.

Usually just enough to get free shipping but there have been some larger orders. Usually only because of SG drops I wanted to stock up on or some other drop of tins I wanted to cellar.

It is nice though being able to stock up on 5 pounds of the cheaper bulks I like all at once for relatively decent prices. Other than those bigger purchases most of my cellar was built by spacing out purchases at least a little. Nowadays I try to only grab a few tins here and there if it's a good deal. I feel like my cellar will last me at least 20 years as is so I have tried to tighten the TAD budget recently.

I think the most I have ever spent on a single order was about $1300. I am sitting on close to 300# cellared and I started this journey the middle of 2013.

I have spent too much on pipes and tobacco, but nothing that damaged my families finances. My pipes and the smoking of them bring me joy. I have had to dial way back since I lost my job to covid causing a drop in my schools enrollement numbers. I only order tobacco every three months or so now.

Meh. Still ordering small bulk amounts to figure out what I like. Have triggered free shipping when I buy a pipe, but otherwise just try not go overboard. I already have three jars that are never getting smoked.

Related/not related story....

My bass player just got a Dr. Grabow and started asking me for a non aro recommendation. I gave him some Dunhill Ready Rubbed to try. He loved it. I offered to order a tin for him several times and he never replied. The he spent $23 for one tin at a B&M. ? It was on sale for about $7 at P&C up until last week. It's only about $10 normally anyway.

I typically only buy a few tins at a time - I try to get at least to free shipping, but with all of the limited releases, I will only grab 2-3 tins in an order now. I already have more than I can smoke in the next few years... so I try and hold back. I am tired of buying mason jars.

Like many, I get what I can justify/whatever I need to get free shipping. I’ll snag as much esoterica as I can when it becomes available locally.
