Same here. At a minimum, enough to get the free shipping.

As a side note, one of the reasons i love SP is because they offer free shipping on all orders to military stationed overseas. Awesome company.

wow that's a really great service they just hit me with 65 usd of shipping to Japan :) perhaps there is someone on the forum I can cut a deal with I'm in Tokyo

I buy at least the minimum to get free shipping. It makes no sense to do otherwise. I've accumulated around 450 pounds in the past three years.

The first thing you need to do is determine how much per year you smoke. Take a shot at estimating your remaining life span. Multiply that times your yearly consumption. Now you know what you need to buy. It's simply a matter of finding the time and budget to make the purchases.

haha sorry go I got to laugh at the 450lbs but I'm envious so good for you

As much as I can afford usually. I have blends I always stock up on then try new things also. I cellar deep on blends I know I'll never get tired of. I am into building up my cellar right now but I figure once I get comfortable I'll slow down a bit.
Like most pipers I am also worried about skyrocketing prices and availability so I'm spending a lot more than I want to right now. Probably anywhere from 500 to 1500 a month. I really wish the government would quit screwing around with our liberties but I'm trying to make sure it doesn't affect me at some point with a large cellar.

Whew. 65 just for shipping is rough.

SP's free shipping to military is inly applicable to APO/DPO addresses. Who knows, there actually may be someone in the military stationed over there on these forums. I know there are some members in Korea. Most of the military in Japan would be in Oki or Zama though, i think. I may be wrong. Maybe put up a post? ?

Probably about £50 - £100 if it's a UK order and $80 if I'm buying from America as the UK taxes & duties that get added by customs & excise can be eye watering.

Hi,

Just wondering how much tobacco people usually buy when ordering for me it's in excess of 200 USD usually tins and that will last me for quite some time but I'm about to pull the trigger on a couple of much larger orders circa 1000 USD and start to cellar some.

Maybe it's lockdown or future tobacco regulations has me feeling this way

thanks
Enough to get free shipping.

For about four years, I had $300 a month budgeted for tobacco and pipes. Now, I am just not looking for more pipes, but I don't have that much in the budget any more. I am also not really needing more tobacco, but if something interesting comes out, I'll at least buy 5 tins. I'm not so worried about getting free shipping. Shipping is usually only like $5-7 anyway.

While I have a few tins and jars sitting around for years, I don’t usually stockpile, unless it’s DeWalt, Milwaukee, etc.... Ha

I am up in canada and I order whole leaf from the states. Usually 2-4lbs at a time. Costs about 75-150$ usd shipped. A couple lbs lasts 2-3 months.

This year I sold some of my older tins on consignment and used the money to stock up my cellar. I think $600 dollars or so? This was an odd year for me because I purchased more than usual, on top of what I earned from those consignment tins. I wanted to try blends that I've always wanted to try, but never got around to. Some winners, some losers, but a good experience. I also stocked up on my favorites this year. I have an ok stocked cellar right now, so my purchases have slowed considerably. However, I'm sure I'll still buy some tins here and there just not in the quantities I purchased over the coarse of this year.

Usually around the $100 mark. I wait for sales or bulk orders.

For any limited edition tins that snag my interest I buy 3-5 tins depending.
