I actually don't like 1792 fresh, but after 2-3 years, I love it.I've read reports of the tonquin topping on Samuel Gawith 1792 Flake almost completely vanishing after 5 years in the cellar
That must be why. That flavor tames down a bit.
For cellaring tobaccos, Virginias are where it's at. I smoke a lot of burley blends and while they don't necessarily get better with age, I still try to stock up for the simple fact that these days you never know when a blend will be suddenly discontinued. Also, it's not ever going to get cheaper so I put away what I can afford to put away.
