So good that online references to the company say the pipes are made by carvers
Isn’t this the company that was trying to pass off fakes of well known makers? Guess it makes sense that their dishonesty has continued.

A distributor was trying to pass them off as such but they are stamped Huge Stone, H.S. Studio, etc.

Ah so it wasn’t the issue with the maker but the distributor? So is it the distributor who owns that eBay store with all the HS and Road Town pipes?

For general fit and finish I think the best pipes I've got are my two Chacoms.

Personally, if it's tight I don't care if it's flush or not.
Doesn't change the flavor or how it smokes.
I'd keep it.
If it bothers you consider it a lesson learned.

What bothers me faaaar more is when I buy a bent pipe and it's not bent straight.
That's a major frustration for me and one of the first things I look at when I get a bent pipe, which isn't that often since I prefer just about everything about straight pipes.
