hockey fans remind me a lot of battered women.. no matter how bad they are treated they can't wait to run back.

Well I’m in Pittsburgh, when the Steeler games are finished for the year, then it’s all about the Penguins. Personally I’m not a hockey fan but the city is, so with little to do here it’s all you hear about. I never watch it on TV but will catch a couple games live and that’s about it. Hockey should be seen live, you need to feel the crashing, not see it on TV. Ticket prices are a joke and would rather buy a box of VA and some tins. But I get dragged there every year for a few games.

Die hard Bruins fan here. We are off to a good start. Started going to the games in 1966 and grew up watching the greatest player in the history of the game. Number 4 Bobby Orr. If it wasn't for that mother////ckr Ken Dryden, we would have won 2- 3 more cups back then. I hate the Habs. lol

Awesome, I wish I could have seen him play. But, i've grown up in a completely different generation which isn't to say I've completely missed out, I was still around when my all time favourite player Ray Bourque played.

I work in Toronto now and live in Niagara about an hour away, so I should be a leafs fan but I can't stand them. I grew up in Western Canada so historically I'm an Oilers fan. However, one of my wife's relatives plays for the NY Rangers now, so it seems like everyone in our entire family is now a Rangers fan. An odd thing to be in Ontario.
I grew up as a Rangers fan in Eastern Ontario, even though I didn't get a lot of the games. This was in the Eddie Mio, Barry Beck, and Ron Duguay (speeding down the ice, afro-a-flowing) days. If I had a second favourite team at that time, it was the Nordiques since we got most of their games in French on TQS. I grew up in a Habs household being just an hour from Montreal, so it was rebellion from an early age for me. The leafs sucked back then too.
When Ottawa got the Senators, I finally felt like I had a team to call my own. I bid a final farewell to the Rangers after the Cup win in '94, and shifted my loyalties fully to the Sens. I moved to Ottawa in '98, and used to go to 10-12 games a year when I was single. :| I still have my old Rangers jersey, but it stays in storage.

I really enjoy college and professional hockey and have been a fan of both for many years. When the NHL lockout dragged on and on and on and finally reconciled I "swore" I am not watching any NHL hockey this season unless my team makes the playoffs! It was my way of "protesting" the absurdity of the entire situation.
Well...my "protest" lasted about 3 minutes. I watched NHL hockey all day yesterday and as I type am watching the Blackhawks up 4-2 over the Coyotes at the end of the 2nd period. I am so weak. While I am at it; Why on earth is there a hockey team in Arizona still or for that matter ever? No offense to all the 100's of Phoenix Coyote pipe smoking fans! (Spitting out wine cracking up).

loseth, Bourque was one of the best Bruin of all time no doubt. It is a shame he couldn't win one with us. If the owner wasn't such a cheap son of a bitch he would have one a few. Without a doubt the worst owner in the history of the league. Who else would trade Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito, no one.
No one could dominate the game like Orr. He could start behind his goal rush up ice un touched and score, I cannot count the number of times he did that. He still holds all scoring records for a defense man. He could kill a penalty all by himself, he would skate around the rink untouched for over a minute at a time. He was without a doubt the greatest skater the sport has ever seen. Gretzky was a great scorer, but he played in an era where he was protected. If he played in Orr's era he would have not lasted 4 seasons, he was no where big enough or tough enough. Probably the guy with the best pure shot and best sniper in the history of the game was Mike Bossy of the Islanders. His goals per shot percentage is impressive.
You look at the +/- numbers today and then compare it to Orr's best year. His best was a +/- 124, last year the leader in that category had a plus/minus of 36, thinks about that for a minute. Orr also had years of 86,84,80, that is game domination.
Peck, Boston is a great hockey town. It is too bad the Maple Leafs suck every year.
bubblehead33, my hate for the Habs is only surpassed by my hate for the Yankees and the Lakers. lol

The NHL's incursion into the desert and the Deep South is one of the worst decisions they ever made.
There are natural hockey markets and there are places where ice is a foreign concept.
The Coyotes and several other teams on life support show that it was an overly ambitious experiment.
That level of expansion has really diluted the talent pool. A lot of unworthy players are lacing up every night.
As for the lockout, I was done after 2004-2005...

I'm a Flyers fan but living in Portland now makes that hard. They don't play the games and i'm not paying for NHL game center once again as it SUCKED last time i paid a ton of money and the feeds looked like crap.
Hopefully i'll get my fix via reading and possibly some audio feeds of the games.

We have the WHL here with the Winterhawks but i don't really have a passion for that at all.
I wish Paul Allen would bring an NHL team here and take one away from these towns that do not deserve one. We have the Rose Garden where the Blazers play and it is set up for ice hockey as that is where the Winterhawks play half of their games.
The NHL here would be a dream.

Wow man, I really like your style. Bruins fan, Yankees and Lakers hater. Aside from Miami, Lakers are my most hated NBA team. My hate for the Yankees is so much greater than any other sports team in any sport its ridiculous. My baseball teams are, first off, the Jays which explains why I hate the Yankees (I'm kind of thinking your a Red Sox fan though . . .) and the Mets would be next up. I'm a bit funny with baseball, I love a lot of teams and enjoy watching almost any team play, but the Jays and Mets seem to remain my mainstays.

I've been an Avs fan since the team moved to Denver. Bourque was a fantastic player but my favorite player has got to be Patrick Roy. He never got the upper hand in any fight I saw but the man could follow the puck like no other.

He couldn't handle the puck worth a crap though . . . I still think he was the possibly the greatest goalie.

So, will this year's Cup be tainted because it's only half a season?
I don't think so, the Devils first win in '95 never gets mentioned as tainted and that was a shortened season.
