That one is a Bhut Jalokia Ghost.

I have 7 Pot Johnas, 7 Pot Douglah, Yellow Bhut Jalokias, Chocolate Habaneros, and am waiting on the Brain Strain to put put out, and a couple of other varieties. I have 7 of the top 10 hottest peppers (depending on what source you use) in the world. My Trinidad Scorpions didn't come up... :crying:

Here are today's pictures each picture is from a different plant.

These are the Chocolate Habaneros (just one plant... I have 4 like this.)

Lawrence, that's very cool. What do you do with your peppers? Cook with them? I don't think you'll be eating them straight. A local restaurant here has a dish using the ghost pepper; so I've heard of it.

I'm going to commit pepper-cide once.

:laughat: I plan on eating one of the ghost chilis.

Just to say I have.

The rest I'll dry and grind up for seasoning.

If I have enough of the 7 Pots I'll print up some "Release from Liability" forms and sell them fresh.

I figure $10 or $15 a pop.

You can't mail "perishables" so I won't put them up for sale here.

But, for the local  's I'll put a sign out by my mail box.
I'll just eat the Chocolate Habaneros with dinner.

I usually have a couple of jalapeños, serranos, or Habanero peppers everyday.

They keep this old codger regulated. I know TMI. :D

I eat crushed red on pretty much everything except my cheerios in the morning. Maybe that's what happened to my hair. :)

I make fountain pens and just about anything i can on a mini lathe. Woodworking was a consuming past time. But this tour has required me to have my woodowrking tools put up in storage back in the states. So, I've picked up gardening, and should take a few pointers from Lawrence cause my peppers arent doing that well. Also because i lack my wood shop, I've finished my first carved briar pipe.

Ok guys, today is a monumental day.

The Super Hots are almost ready to ripen.
This is the first of my salad peppers... Chocolate Habaneros. AKA Satan's chili

Habanero chili peppers are rated 100,000–350,000 on the Scoville Heat Unit Scale.

This is the before photo. The one I picked is at the very bottom of the photo.

Habanero chili peppers are rated 100,000–350,000 on the Scoville Heat Unit Scale.

For those that don't know the scale is how many drops of water it takes to put out the heat. With 1 Scoville being 1 drop of water. To put it in perspective, the typical Jalapeno(which the average person considers hot) is usually around 5,00 Scoville

Lawrence, you are my hero. I can eat some pretty spicy stuff but what you are eating is insane. I have a buddy who grew some seriously hot habaneros( don't know the strain) but they were the hottest thing I ever ate in my life. Ghost peppers are way above that and you are going to eat one? You gotta tell us how that goes. When I go to a good szechuan or Inidan restaurant I always order extra hot, but would never think of eating a ghost. There was an episode of Man vs Food here in Sarasota, and Richmond ate one wing from this place called Munchie's 420 Cafe and he almost lost it. They use ghost chili's in the sauce for their wing challenge and it was a riot when they showed him in back trying to gulp down milk.

Brew my own beer and I enjoy reading Clausewitz (hopefully being able to incorporate this into a Phd sometime in the future) and more broadly philosophy.

Pretty close Ben... My understanding is that a Scoville Heat Unit is a taste/laboratory test of the concentration/dillution of capsicum (the heat chemical) in water so as to be undetectable. 1 Scoville Heat Unit = 1 gallon of water.
These are Yellow Bhut Jolokia chilies, or "Yellow Boots", or Yellow Ghost Chilies, Capsicum Chinense.

An informed guesstimation of these puts the SHUs between 800,000 and 1,200,000 SHUs.

This photo was taken about 1/2 an hour ago. They are coming along nicely.... or not so nicely.
Be afraid... Be very, very, VERY AFRAID!

Edit: Neil Smith is hardcore. The plaque to the right of the flag is a Guniess Book of Records Award for developing the "Worlds Hottest Chili Pepper".

I've been eating the Chocolate Habaneros and the Doughlahs almost daily.... But, a new menace has reared it beautiful head... The 7 Pod Jonahs... I still haven't gotten the nerve to try the Yellow Buhts/Ghosts yet. But, after eating this Johah, I think I'm ready.

Igloo, does that offer still stand?

If so, I'll do it.

I just had this pepper with supper.

I thought my teeth would melt.... but, I survived... smiling! :D :nana:

This is reputed to be as hot or hotter than the Ghost.

I'll see what I can do about the video tomorrow!

Here's today's harvest including the Yellow 7 Pod...

It was hiding....
