Hello Pipers,

My name is Hakan. I've been using a pipe for a long time, but it was an occasional habit. However, recently I've been increasing my pipe collection, reducing cigarettes, and smoking a pipe a bit more often.

I'm 30 years old. I have a shop on ETSY where I sell silver jewelry. I'm also a writer and a musician.

That's all I have to say. May your smoke be cool. :)

PS: My English is not very good. I will use a bit of translation and might make some nonsense. 🙃

Welcome from Texas! What tobaccos do you find in Turkey? Any favorites so far?

In Turkey, this is quite challenging. Turkey doesn't allow the import of pipe tobacco. (I don't know why, it's quite absurd. Probably because it's not a large market.)

You can get it during international travels. And we have one or two local producers. I can say they are quite successful compared to global brands.

There's a tobacco called Sooty Flake. It's made by smoking Golden Virginia, Burley, and Oriental tobaccos with cherry and oak woods. It's very strange, but sometimes when I smoke this tobacco, I think my pipe is on fire. But it's probably the smell of this tobacco. Because when I smoke Best Chocolate Flake afterward, I don't get any burnt wood smell :D

There are many tobaccos I want to try, but unfortunately, I couldn't access them. I generally prefer non-aromatic, medium-strong, Oriental tobaccos. If it's going to be aromatic, it should be a very well-balanced blend.

no ones's English is that good. It's a wonderful language but nearly impossible to perfect.

A big welcome~and a fine introduction!

Your description of "Sooty Flake" will remind a number of us of "Latakia"- the tobacco, not the area! I wonder how close in final product it might be to one of my favorite tobacco condiments.

Welcome! I think you will find that the community here would be very interested in arranging an exchange program to trade for your locally available Turkish tobaccos, which have been sadly unavailable to us for quite some time!
