Here's the question. Have you ever really run out of tobacco. I mean at home, in your residence, where you actually spend your time. Not on a trip, or in the midst of a move, or while in the military in boot camp or something. Some develop vast stores of hundreds of pounds of blend; nothing wrong with that! But has anyone ever actually run out, so the cupboard was bare? Even when I was not smoking my pipes, I had some tobacco on hand, if rather dried out ... which I eventually smoked with satisfaction. But I didn't run out. Then I soon had more on hand.

Not yet, fortunately.

Tobacco is always one of my first priorities whatever I do and wherever I go.

The Holy Trinity I never leave home without is wallet, keys, snus.

thefishguy, as noted, if you quit smoking, keep some tobacco. Times change.

When I do, I smoke Jim's Soylent Blend. Tough smoking the bones, though. :D

Never used to be a concern, there were tobacconists and newsstands everywhere. Usually had a bag or two laying around the house, but I liked the option to just pop in and buy something on a whim. Lots of good tobaccos to choose from, and it was nice to visit with the shopkeepers.
Then everything changed. Shops disappeared, prices went up, availability went down. Now I have to drive hours just to get to a B&M shop, and they often don't have what I want, so I end up buying something just to support them. Then I have to buy what I wanted in the first place online.
I vividly recall the moment that I realized everything had changed. I had run out of tobacco, and had moved to a new town, never imagining that it would be a thing to find a bag or tin of tobacco. I went looking, but quickly realized the unthinkable had happened and there wasn't anything to be had. Oh well, I thought, I'll just pop down to the drugstore, or supermarket and grab an OTC. Nope. Gas station? Nope - at least nothing that I wanted. It suddenly became clear that when a guy has to hunt for a pouch of Prince Albert or such, that the end was nigh. Waiting a few days to have something shipped to me was a life changing experience. My credit card still has bruises.
I'm not going to ever run out now. Ain't gonna happen. Even if the Zombie Apocalypse happens.
BTW - I've been reliably informed that zombies don't smoke pipes, so ... there's that. In case you were worried. I was. A bit.

Yes.
When I first got into this I had one tin of Nightcap. It took me a while to get through it, but I knew I was on to something. Then I started saving up $50+ for another tin.
Now, I have more than enough for years and years.

And maybe just in case of zombies. Just in case.
Not that I'm worried about zombies.
Much.

If I did run out of tobacco, I believe I might contrive to get some, though it could take some doing, depending on circumstances. Running out is not a happy thought, but not insurmountable either.
