After speaking with Kevin and getting permission I'm posting this list from a B&M I've done business with. I asked a couple guys on here what some of the harder to locate blends are. I gave that to Brian and he compiled this list. The store is Telford's Pipe and cigar. They're located in California and their number is 4153880440. During the current situation they're available between 10 am and 2pm PST Monday thru Friday. I've worked with Brian (owner) and his daughter Theresa and both were very friendly and helpful. I looked up quite a few of these blends and didn't have any luck finding them in stock with the major online retailers, so I hope this gives some of you an opportunity to score a blend or two that you haven't been able to find. If there's something else youre looking for just ask them. I scored a few pounds of Mac Baren's HH Vintage Syrian Latakia (I left some for others) Good luck.

Interesting. They previously had a "locals only" policy on some of the rarer items.

Did someone just light up the Peck signal? ?

It’s like the Bat signal but those in distress are pretty much screwed because he’s going to be busy loading the boot of the Peckmobile with tobacco.

I pop into Telford's a few times a year when traveling through the area. It's the only genuine tobacconist I've ever been to (no vape gear, glass pipes/bongs, crack torches, etc.) and it's always a real treat to pick through their stash and enjoy a bowl in the lounge or on a rocker out on the deck. As much as I'm happy to help support this rare and cherished resource the punitive CA tobacco taxes of nearly 70% keep me from going nuts. Rumor has it that the Golden Gate Pipe Club meets there on the second Sunday of every month and members likely to be in attendance include several local pipe celebrities such as Greg Pease or Marty Pulvers. Great shop. I love this place.

Those California prices are just another reason to make me happy I don't live there.
If I had to pay that much, I'd give up smoking.

It's all relative. At $20.77 a tin you're still not very far off of $1 per bowl, a bowl that provides around an hour of smoking pleasure. Even with the marked up San Francisco shop prices and taxed at 70% pipe tobacco is an amazing value compared to just about everything else I blow my hard earned money on. It would definitely need to be a lot more than that to make me completely quit smoking.

Want to feel ripped off? Try going to a modern movie theater and ordering some popcorn and a root beer.

Want to maintain a strict budget while stuffing your bunker with hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of pounds of tobacco because you think you're immortal and will never be able to buy tobacco again? Buy from the big internet retailers that thrive on putting hundreds or thousands of treasured local B&Ms out of business by undercutting their prices and evading taxes.

Want to have easy access to blends perpetually unavailable online and pay an average of about $1 an hour to hang in the lounge smoking premium tobaccos with the babe pictured above? Shop Telford's Pipe and Cigar.

That would be a no. The woman would take away from my enjoyment of the tobacco. I'm not 14 and I enjoy the likes of McClelland, Esoterica, and Gawith for far, far below those prices.

I did just that, I have well over 400 pounds. If I called Telfords under normal circumstances and asked about those so called hard to get blends, I strongly suspect I'd be told out of stock. Telfords doesn't care about me and I don't care about them. They're probably struggling a bit right now so they've opened their doors so to speak. Why is Penzance marked up more than the other Esoterica 8 oz bags?

You enjoy your $1 bowls, I'll enjoy my $.40 bowls. I do give you credit for trying to help out your local shop.

I don't know if you've ever called them, but I certainly have, and you're more right than you may know. Someone else can buy the tobacco, but it won't be me. I was subjected to nothing but arrogance and abuse each time I called.

Just to be clear; no one at Telford's asked me to do this. I see members talk in many posts about blends that are hard to come by either because they're out of production (like the Syrian latakia that I got) or because they're European blends that don't get imported much and get snatched up as soon as they become available. I just went through the list and with the exception of the Balkan Sasieni and the G.L. Pease blends none of the others (Esoterica, Germains, Rattrays, Robert McConnell or Samuel Gawith) are currently in stock at either smokingpipes or the other big online retailers. If these prices are higher than you want to pay so be it, don't buy it. I saw guys paying stupid amounts for McClellands tins at the last pipe show I attended; to each their own.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Every time I've called them they've been nothing but patient and helpful.

Have you ever called them? If not; what do you base your statement on? I'm not a "local", I'm from Missouri and every time I've called I've had a great experience.
As to the Penzance; I would never pay that much for half a pound of anything, but try to find it. 4noggins had several listings from the $140 to $650 range... all out of stock. I couldn't find any in stock at any of the other big online retailers. Look at what McClelland's is going for. Supply and demand at it's best.
Do you really have 400+ lbs of tobacco put back? I did some rough math and figuring a low of 6 bowls per ounce that's 38400 bowls. At four bowls per day, 365 days a year you have 26 years of tobacco on hand. I think you can hold out for a better deal.
