Logically think about this, Can you buy cigarettes online? Nope. Then why would you be able to buy cigars and pipe tobacco?

I would ask it this way:

Can you buy cigars and pipe tobacco online? Then why would you not be able to buy cigarettes?

Answer: control freaks using children as an excuse as they always do.

Who will save the children from a future run by control freaks?

I was sitting on the front stoop of my house twenty some odd years ago smoking a cigar. My daughter ran up to me and said, "teacher says that's a drug." I told her that her teacher doesn't get to tell me what to do. I was an adult. I blew some smoke towards her to get her to go away. I have a feeling this house bill is a bit of Karma for me.

“Political tags — such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth — are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort.”

Incorrect. The House voted to proceed with general debate, likely tomorrow. Cue to 27:55 at this C-SPAN video for explanation. Cue to 28:20 for some commentary on the bill.

So,,, As a hypothetical situation: Say they ban internet sales. Couldn't a company have all their stock catalog on line and then still take orders over the phone. Is it strictly the financial transaction over the internet that is being banned?

There was (is) a flat prohibition on shipping cigarettes by mail across state lines foe decades before the present “save the children “ push. For a relatively brief period of time, sellers on tribal reservations got around this by using the internet and UPS or FedEx. That “loophole” was closed over a decade ago as I recall. I used to smoke English Ovals occasionally and got them this way. The industry did not oppose the Federal legislation that drove these sellers out of business.
