Is this thread supposed to be a eulogy type thing or the forum’s version of CSI?
Gene Hackman was a wonderful actor.
He was a handsome guy, played colorful adventuresome characters, and reminded me of my grandfather in some roles.

Rest in Peace Gene Hackman.
Eternal Memory.

The last celebrity death that I got into reading a lot about in a CSI way was Bob Saget's in 2022. As far as I could tell, he was tired from doing a late night comedy show and a long drive, took relaxing pills, slipped backwards on a slippery hotel bathroom floor, got into bed and passed away. I couldn't find anything to rule out an accident. It made me conclude that freak accidents like that happen.

Hopefully investigation into Gene's case will continue.

The Sheriffs are now saying there was no sign of struggle, foul play or evidence of a gas leak. Both of them looked like they'd fallen and she had prescription pills scattered about her.

I think maybe he dropped dead of a heart attack, or something, and she overreacted in the moment and killed herself. Hopefully, the autopsies clear up exactly what went down.

Details are still not consistent. I'm surprised their dogs didn't use them for a food source.

Wait, were their dogs dachshunds? Because if they were dachshunds, then I think I can see a canine assassination happening here. These dogs come across as little scaredy cats, but in teams, they will conspire and kill in anonymity. I could even see them taking one of their own in an attempt to divert suspicion away from them. Never trust dachshunds. puffy

There was a woman killed a few years back by them.

They are diabolical little devils. I have heard of several dachshund attacks. In groups they work as a team, like mongooses taking down a cobra.
"Though the breed is famous for its use in exterminating badgers and badger-baiting, dachshunds were also commonly used for rabbit and fox hunting, for locating wounded deer, and in packs were known to hunt game as large as wild boar and as fierce as the wolverine."- wikipedia

We had two of them at one time. I think the only reason they didn't gang up on one of use was because they hated each other.
I also remember reading that full size dachshunds were used for hunting lions in Africa.

I believe I read that they were German Shepherds.

Except.. She had been dead for some time before him they used the term mummified. Be interesting to know how many pills were missing but do you chug a handful of pills and drop in place? The dead dog was kenneled. Other two were not and the a dog door they could use to go in out.

IMHO, she died from ? Guessing he has dementia and didn't have a clue what do or probably didn't know he had to do something. He wondered around weak no food or meds and fell or at 95 simple old age struck.

They would not mention pills strewn unless they think it’s a Beaches of Cheyenne type situation.

Why, I just love folk songs.

Sing it Garth!

But it’s not over.

Why the dead dog? Just one of three?

One dead the other two very healthy.

Here is a good time, to tell a noble lie.

Distraught over the death of her Gene, Betsy poisoned the sick old faithful dog Gene loved so much, and went to join Gene in heaven, a space heater beside her.

Or something close to that.

That case sounds so weird.
It's a little hard for me to believe.
If the lady was small and in a weak state it would be easier to believe.

If the authorities have one ounce of kindness they can turn all the biographies of Gene Hackman into a hopelessly romantic love story.

Such as, realizing Gene had accidently overdosed on pills and died //-

Not at all, ever deal with a badger? Those dogs were not only selectively bread to chase them out of their burrows but also to kill them. Several feral ones could easily take down a person.

Maybe the neighbors had dachshunds... this just smells of dachshund foul play to me.

They have better temperaments when bred with Yorkshire Terriers...they then become Dorkies:

Ok, so I've told this story before right after it happened. But, I was walking my beloved setter, Scamper, RIP, when all of a sudden about 30 of them wiener dogs came at us. Scamp was all ready to fight at first, but as they made a circle around us and started darting in and out like some sort of evil mongoose machine. Then Scamp but his back to mine and did his best to fend them off. Now, if there weren't a bunch of kids playing close by, my instincts were to just stomping them damn things into greasy spots, but even then, 30? the odds were that at least one of them SOBs were gong to snip my Achilles tendon, and bring me down to their level. I was just on the verge of stomping them anyways, kids be damned, when their owner came out and started grabbing them up.
I've been chased by Great Danes on my bike, had a pitty chase me out of a yard, and a Pyrenees once bit me while I was trying to feed it. But, those dachshunds were the first time I ever thought that I might not make it out alive. Even if I had been carrying, I would have needed several magazines to clear the field.
