We have a local gas station at $4.99, while the Shell across the street is $5.49. Arco is lower than Shell, Exxon and the other major brands.

So the big player pricing is bullshit.
Shell, Exxon and Chevron gas stations always seem to be higher priced than smaller independent gas stations. Most of the Walmarts and Sams Clubs have Murphy Oil gas stations on property and they are usually 10 to 15 cents cheaper than the big named companies.

We are at $4.79 as of yesterday. We were at a steady $5 for a month. The closest store to me is an hour round trip so I need to get what I need in fewer trips. They also cut my foodstamps down from $350 to $250. I'm barely able to afford meat. Good thing it pays for my vegetable plants. For local trips I use my donkeys and a cart lol.

In our area it's worse than usual. I visited a town in Colorado last month where every single gas station was within a penny of one another - the price might be $4.69 in the morning and $4.79 in the afternoon, and they were all in sync, regardless of brand. This is also how it was when I was growing up in the '60s.
