If gas goes up by $1/gallon, I spend an extra $350/year. So no, nothing will change.

A cleaner I was going to use for my condo said she will raise her prices because of gas increases. Each day she drives 20 miles each way and cleans about 10 condos. So if she gets 20mpg and gas goes up by a $1 a gallon, she's raising her rate by twenty cents per cleaning?

No, she's doing the same thing Shell and Exxon are doing.

In N.C., recently the price came down a little from $4.69 to $4.39, if I remember correctly. I drive a Mazda-3, am retired, and don't drive distances or commute on any regular basis, so I'm doing OK. I admit, I've never been able to put $40 worth of gas in a fill-up before. For families with two or more cars, larger vehicles, with two or more commuters in the family, even N.C.'s prices are too high. Fifty or eighty dollar fill-ups are just par.
Don't worry it will go back up

Last time I filled up I paid just under 5/gal. I have about 22 mile commute to work. Can't say it's really changed my driving habits much, but other than when I'm going to work or the store I really don't drive much.

Filled up in Slidell last week and it was $4.36 a gallon. Drove to Baton Rouge and I saw one truck stop with regular unleaded for $4.09 a gallon. Long lines at the pump. The way I drive my Subaru Forester, I'm averaging 30 - 36 (combined city/hwy) mpg per tank so I'm still okay driving where I need to.

Here
In Knoxville, we've been hovering around $4.50-something for a month or so.

I had the fortunate timing of selling my Texas house in January, buying my Tennessee house in March and then in April, paying the ridiculous price to fuel a 26' truck jammed full of my possessions 1100 miles at 6MPG. My ass still hurts from that reaming.

Only the sale of the Texas place at an exorbitant profit saved my bacon.

I miss my 70mpg scooter I sold before leaving Texas...

Problem here is we need to use premium which is way overpriced at $5.50+ a gallon home heating oil is going to be an issue as it is still over $5 a gallon. BTW, oil closed under $100 a barrel today, but it is up tonight to over $101. It’ll take about a month for the lower price to filter down to the consumer, unlike like the increase at the pump which happens the day after the price per barrel goes up $2

Anther reason I’m glad I’m back home in Florida, heating oil will be a nightmare. A lot of people will be cold this winter. ?

I haven't looked at the price at the pump recently, but here on the Canadian Prairies gas has sold at over $1/Liter for many years, and that's about $4.50/Gallon, so hearing people complain about $5/Gallon seems kind of funny.
