For me several Pease blends, particularly Quiet Nights and Maltese Falcon, had a chemical note and/or not blended flavors upon opening and smoking. Opening the tin and shelving it a few weeks to a month significantly melded the flavors and produced wonderful smokes.
^^^^ This right here. GLP blends, new or aged, change after opening. To my palate, they can be underwhelming out of the can. But even just opening the can ( cracking it and putting the plastic top on it) it and letting it sit a few days yields what you were likely expecting. GLP blends are worth the wait on this count.

Maltese Falcon is an amazing tobacco, I just love this english blend. I always enjoy smoking it. This tobacco reminds me of SPC Plum Pudding they both taste so good, but Falcon has become my favourite of the two. You just cant go wrong with this . Do yourself a favor ang give it a try cause its great tobacco.

I have another tin of Westchester and Quiet Nights tucked back to age. Hope they improve with time. Maltese Falcon however is one of my favorites. After it gets some air and breathes, it’s a wonderful blend.

Is it true that Maltese Falcon has a ginger flavor note ? I often thought Frog Morton Original did as well. Sometimes I even got what could only be described as the flavor/aroma of a brand new pack of baseball cards from the 70s and the thin slice of bubble gum inside. Am I crazy ?

That bubble gum flavor is rose water so maybe that's part of what it's cased with??? Either way I need to try this blend now.

I enjoyed my one tin of it, but I had left it for years (maybe 10?) before smoking it.

Pease gives his blends some exciting names, I think this has the potential to be counterproductive because it builds hype around something that is still 'just tobacco'

Last week I opened a tin from 2016 and it was nothing too spectacular, even though this is generally one of my favorite blends. However, I let the tobacco sit for 3 or 4 days before smoking another bowl and it was as good as I remembered it. I have smoked this new and aged and I like it both ways. There is a ginger spice note to my palate as well. Never really thought of it but it's there.
