Yep ? “Toad strangler” or “frog strangler” are pretty frequently heard around here.

The old saw about "God willing, and the Creek don't rise." was originally in reference to worry about a possible uprising by the Creek tribe of Native Americans against the settlers crowding them out of their homelands.

If you remember the movie Good Morning Vietnam, one of my favorites was when the General was talking to the lieutenant that kept chasing dumb things and reading the situation wrong.

“Boy, you don’t know whether you’ve been shot, f@cked, powder burnt, or snake bit.”

Though to be fair, that may be a fairly common problem for young officers.?
