Since Piastri has the better start and lead most of the race is my guess. I think McLaren just messed up the pit strategy and wanted to correct it on track. I think the other reasons are the Piastri has helped Landon multiple times before and with his leading most of the race wanted to reward those efforts.
Right. The biggest help was giving up pitting first to help Lando fend off Hamilton. I lost a lot of respect for Lando last week.

Great race - competitive, wet qualifying. F1 doesn't get much better in this era than the race this weekend.
Man, I love Spa. Seeing them take Eau Rouge is amazing (and they had to lift this year to protect tires). I think they said over 190 mph thru that corner.

When my kids had a PS3, I had F1 and used to love running Spa on that.

Having the top three finish within a second of each other makes for exciting racing. I like how competitive the cars are becoming and which there was more time before the new regs.

Wonder if Perez will be back after the summer break. I'm a fan, but his race craft has fallen off this year.

Yeah, it was a shame for George. I was certain that Lewis would overtake him because his tyres were so much newer.

I still think Max will take the title but he's got a real battle on his hands. After the first few races I thought Red Bull were gonna walk it, just like last year. The 2nd half of the season should be very interesting.

I keep hearing that part. Funny thing is no one else has the chance either and they made weight.
I don't think there's a conflict of opinions between the fact that Mercedes screwed up and that George didn't have the last chance to pick up some weight.

I have no idea how much weight a driver can pick up from a cool-down lap, though.🤔

Just a heads up that F1 has returned after the summer break. Dutch GP qualifying is tomorrow.
Perfect timing here, just finished our move to Louisiana, TV is all set up. Qualifying in the AM (and everything is an hour earlier here!), then Cars & Coffee with my new British Motoring Club of New Orleans buddies.

Lando absolutely pissed it. That's how you develop a car. Red Bull looked untouchable in the first races but now they've been caught and overtaken. McClaren definitely have the better car, now.

Both the constructors and drivers championships are up for grabs. McClaren making Lando give the place back in the last race might bite them in the arse come the end of the season. Red Bull really need to up their development game.

Roll on, Monza! 🏎️

It feels like F1 of the 1980's, with teams getting the better of each other at phases in the season.

Yeah, it's been a really big surprise to me. After the first few races I honestly thought we were gonna have a repeat of last year with Max just walking it. So glad it hasn't turned out that way. Max still has a mighty lead but a DNF or two and Lando could easily reel him in.

McClaren have done an incredible job of updating their car, they've absolutely nailed it. Be interesting to see what Ferrari can do next week in their home race at Monza.

Great to see Ferrari winning at Monza!🏎️

Max having big struggles, again. I just read an interview he gave after the race where he said the car had turned into "a monster". Red Bull need to bring some upgrades that work, and quickly.

I think McClaren are fucking up Lando's chances of winning the title. Max still has a big lead. They should've imposed team orders and let Lando pass Piastri at the very end of the race. You can bet that Red Bull will be using team orders to help Max and McClaren need to wise up and do the same thing.

Without Adrian Newey? I don’t know.

McClaren cares about the Constructor's title and Lando is F’n up there chances with his starts. I didn’t think he really had a chance ant the Drivers title anyway.

Lando has a chance, a slim one but still a chance. If they had switched Oscar and Lando around at the end of the race it would've cost McClaren nothing in terms of the constructors. McClaren should back Lando as he's the only one with a chance of catching Max.
