St. Vitus is awesome. I found them on an early SST records compilation with a song called Clear Window Pane. Oh Black House Is awesome too. You're pretty cool to Baron :puffy:

I kind of understood niger to be the more literal word for black and ater to imply more of a mood, like something that conveys malice or something sinister. That is why I went with ater. Niger is more correct literally, though.

You all have me so intrigued with this blend... Blackhouse will definitely be in my next TAD order.... Im a HEAVY Latakia smoker so this should be right up my alley.

Wow! A lot of excitement in this thread. I just ordered a tin a few minutes ago. I have never tried it before, but I am looking forward to the experience. Any suggestions as to what kind of pipe(meerschaum vs. briar, etc.) if any would be best to smoke this in?

I dont think you'll be disappointed smoking this in any pipe you own. It's smoke very well out of my Amphora Canadian.

Barkar is now a full-blooded Blackblood! He's known the bliss of Black House in a PM2012! I believe he's even added our crest to his Sig!

Tossed in 2 tins with my last P&C order just to get a taste of what all this fuss is about. Unfortunately I received a back-order notice even though it clearly stated that it was "in stock and ready to ship". I guess it'll be a week or more before I delve into this movement you guys have going on.

Noob alert here...
I have about 2oz of Larry's Blend and a tin of Magnum Opus. They both have a smell of tires (like in a tire shop) when I open it. Is that the Latakia? I really couldnt stand the stuff much at first, but it is definitely growing on me. Is that stuff along the same lines as Black House?

If you're asking if Black House will simultaneously melt your nose hairs but put more hair on your chest, then yes!

Is it any different than something like GLP Odyssey or McClellands 2 Oaks Syrian?

I've never had those, maybe someone else can chime in?

It'll do that too. You'll have to spend more time grooming...
Seriously though, the tin aroma terrified me when I cracked it open. Heavy man, no joke. I held off trying it until right now, and I'm really floored how good it is when you fire it up. I'm an aromatic guy for the most part, but this is crazy excellent.
So, I'm having some Black House right now in a dark rusticated Brigham, wearing a Carpathian Forest t-shirt, and listening to Mayhem. THAT my friends, is a Blackblood moment. I'm on board.

Same boat here, ghost. Mostly an aro guy here. I'm a seasoned cigar smoker that prefers full bodied stogies. Not sure if that translates to heavier pipe tobacco. I gotta try it though. I WANT TO BE A BLACKBLOOD, dammit!!!

Jeepers, I set down the tin of Black House and it just beat up a jar of RLP-6 and knocked it right off my shelf. So that's the way it's going to be then?

Wanted to add this in my order last night and completely forgot...I'll be waiting for a while as I killed my funds last night.

That's the way to do it!
The tin note reminds me of a new leather jacket. It can be a little intimidating if you are just diving into Balkans. Once you smoke it, though, you'll be amazed at how smooth it is. Magnum Opus is a bigger, more complex flavor and Black House is more bold, uncomplicated and steady.
