Being seen in a Mustang is a little embarrassing these days now that Ford pissed on brand heritage for that new donkey punch of a thing they released wearing the Mustang badge.

Well, I would vote the Mustang. But then, I'm the guy who with kids in tow walked past the Hondas and Toyotas and into a Charger. I'm not dropping more than 4 figures on anything that won't save my life (medical) or somehow move my heart.

I'd vote the 'stang with one reservation. Did you say '80s, or '80? Never by a 1980 car. That was around the first year they started putting computer chips into everything and made it complicated to work on it yourself. They got much better in later years, but those early computerized cars will make a Ford guy out of the most dyed in the wool Chevy-head.

Sounds like someone with a questionable forum tag forgot about the 70s and the Mustang II...

Well the one I'm dreaming about is an 81. It's far more likely I'll end up with a project car however and that could wind up being any year of fox body.

No, I didn't forget about the rebadged Pinto, but it was still the same basic configuration as what a Mustang IS. It was just lazy.
That Momstang is just a pathetic attempt to piggyback on the success that the REAL Mustangs have brought Ford over the years. I hope they fail hard on this one, but that seems to be the road they are taking these days. Rebadge a 1st Gen Escape as a Bronco, create a Edge based pickup and call it a Maverick. The New F150 Lightning will likely be a joke as well.
I wonder what historic name they will ruin next?

A 70's era Pinto, on the track, with just a tad bit of work is a lot faster and more agile than you might expect. I used to take great delight in beating a co-workers Triumph TR-6 around our local mall, after closing. I beat her every time. There's a group of guys that SCCA race them (for me, at Summit Point Raceway). My buddy has a Pinto with a blown 351 Cleveland in it, that smokes just about anything.

I don't think new Volvo's are built quite like the old Volvo's (unless you are taking big truck Volvo's!)

Based on the vid & if you're sticking with the 5.0, I'd be looking for the better years of EFI, but it all depends on how you plan to use the car & what you expect to get out of it. If I was staying with the better EFI 5.0 cars, then I'd probably want a notch & then add drag-radials & a 150-shot of nitrous. You might want a perfect showroom-stock '81 & mothball it since they are pretty rare.
