Upon reading this, I watched the trailer for GENERAL ORDERS NO.9. It reminded me of the same overall sentiment as the poem, The Ballad of William Sycamore. It’s sad how fast the South is becoming Northernized, and it’s even sadder how the culture is being decimated by government “regentrification” programs. I witnessed downtown Asheville before and after the government got involved, and I’ll take the before with all of its partial decay over what they’ve now wrought, any day.Waited eight years for it being told it was coming out that year. Poured five grand into donations, licensed tobacco, and pipes and just found the overall production a letdown. The format seemed unbalanced. If it followed a formula like GENERAL ORDERS NO.9, it may have held my attention better.
