I use two zippos daily. One normal and one with the pipe insert.Oh yeah! I listed the things I had earlier and I forgot something important. I have a nice Zippo lighter to light the pipes. I suppose a soft flame of some sort would be a necessity.

That would be nice, but might be an over reaction. Too much chance of burn out in the chamber. What about a tactical pipe pistol?
Even for artisan pipes I’m content to pick from their offerings that they’ve already made. I’m a man of fairly particular taste, but not so particular that I need to spec every detail. If I cared that much I’d probably be making pipes myself. Not embarrassing at all. Why pay a premium for a commissioned pipe when there are so many great factory pipes? Castellos are "factory pipes" and you can't do better than that.
I would like to add a pipe roll to my collection, but I don't exactly have a go-to travel blend. Or travel pipe for that matter.A pipe roll is great. I used a zippered rice bag for so long and did not realize how nice individual sections could be.
PM sent.I have no commissioned pipes. Kind of embarrassing after all I have spent on factory pipes.
I prefer them too. Handy and utilitarian.I've got over a dozen "fancy tampers" setting in a drawer. On my computer desk, where I do almost all my smoking, is a simple Czech tool.

I use whatever pipe I want and whatever I am smoking.I would like to add a pipe roll to my collection, but I don't exactly have a go-to travel blend. Or travel pipe for that matter.
LOL. I can't ever decide, so I usually bring about four pipes and a dozen jars. Plenty of room in the truck.I use whatever pipe I want and whatever I am smoking.
FTFYhave a cut-up egg carton for pipes on my desk . . . smart SOB! ;-D
Yep they are made by Ramelsen, all you need to do is blunt the point and hone them on flat Arkansas stone. You can get em for about $12. They go by a few different names, hollow ground scraper, tri-blade, burnisher, deburring scraper.
