Yes, that's normal for Kingsbridge. I like to think of it as the powdered sugar my grandmother used to sprinkle on home made brownies.

Also, my open Kingsbridge is much darker than that and the white powdery stuff is fairly ubiquitous.
You know, I could have done without the mention of homemade brownies. Keep those words to yourself ?

My $0.02 guess would be that the white stuff is crystallization of the various sugar solutions and essential oils applied by Germain's, which I've read (and you can kind of smell) is an alcohol based solution. Thus, the alcohol evaporates and the various goodies are left behind on the leaves.

Hate to be the guy that posts another plume vs. mold thread, but I’m genuinely stumped. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s ok, but I’ve never seen plume look so white and spotty like this. Also the way the spots are on the inside of the mylar. Just....seems odd, but I don’t see anything that looks fuzzy or stringy.....more, sort of chalky?

Anyone out there have experience with 8oz bags of Kingsbridge? If so, does this look like normal sugar crystallization? Bag has been vacuum sealed for about a year before opening.

I think the spots on the mylar is your big clue that this is organic growth, not crystals of whatever, which is not going to spring out of plastic. Could be mold, could be bacteria. Is it bad to smoke? I dunno.

I just think microbiologists on this forum are way too quick to come to a conclusion based on photos taken from squint level distance. That said, I'm not sure if they can make a proper ID from magnified pictures either.

Those spots are interesting--I've seen them and wondered if it weren't plume or mold or leprosy or just some precipitate of the preservatives, flavorings, etc. Some on one end say that it's always some kind of mold, others say it can't hurt you. Some say put it in a jar and come back to it and see if it grows, but mold and bacteria can go dormant.

I find that it always seems nice to come here for reassurance, but ultimately OP is always in the bind-- either you don't care about your health so you should smoke it, or you do and so why smoke at all? But I don't have a recommendation. That's where I get mentally, before leaving it in the jar anyways, just to wait and see.

Its the toppings flashing off and sticking to the surfaces.

Being the civic-minded martyr that I am I will take all these nuisance-to-public-health bags off anyone’s hands for $25 per bag. I will then incinerate the contents in my specialized sanitation chamber so you won’t have to worry about anyone getting sick.
