Caution is good, but on my Esoterica bags, the "pinholes" aren't holes. It's where the paint has chipped off the mylar. A quick Charmin squeeze will tell you if the tobacco is still plenty wet.

I have four open Esoterica bags here. I close them with binder clips. They've been like that for over a year and aren't anywhere near dry.
