Right now, I'm feeling that the only people who know less than I do about how the deeming regs will work, or if they will work, are people at the FDA. At the moment it seems they will either torpedo pipe tobacco sales altogether for several years until it's figured out, or have little effect at all. I'm hoping regs will be ceded before they have much effect, at least for pipe tobacco. If they can't explain the regs to the local shop proprietor, I don't think they can explain it at all. Hate to jabber with no new info, but this does inspire futile speculation.

If Orlik takes over producing the former Dunhill blends, presumably the same blends under different names, legally perhaps "matching" blends to avoid having to continue to pay the old Dunhill pipe tobacco ownership licensing fees ... if that happens, do I still get credit for presuming that the Dunhill pipe tobacco brand will continue? That's a silly question and I'm jiving. This rumor, if true, really shows we're in a house of mirrors here. It makes me like my C&D and other blends. When my local Tinder Box chain shop closed in the nearby mall, they built a plywood box over the storefront to remodel it for the next tenant, which seems straightforward a decisive, no fan dance about it.

I've been hoarding 965 for several years now. I stop by the big Cigars International in Hamburg once a month or so and grab 4-5 tins. Today was the first time they had no inventory. They don't give a crap about pipe tobacco there, so there was no use even inquiring.

mikethompson , since I loved latakia so much I was thinking more of it is a good thing by default. Well it wasnt just lat I was tasting it was the whole mix, so M965 is better for me than Nightcap. And going forward I will keep in mind that balanced smoke is my thing rather than a lat bomb

Pipes and Cigars must be getting to the back of their shelves of some blends. My latest Dunhill tins were Orlick 2011.

Nothing comes close to My Mixture 965. Of course GLP makes some stellar blends, I own quite a few but there’s none so far that I like half as much as MM 965. I hope this Oulette guy is already blending his Dunhill matches.
And I wish folks would stop telling me that I should forget about the Dunhill blends because there’re so many other great blends out there. It’s like telling me to listen to Brahms, if for some reason, there would be no more recordings of Beethoven’s symphonies anymore.

Who's that?

I get it, but it would be good advice if we were ever to find ourselves in such a situation.
