Here's my patent, maybe a '45 or so, never looked it up. Blast looks about right.
Not only a good background, but Duane's photos are in focus and are exposed right.
The first Dunhill series were all badly under exposed. Never shoot a dark pipe on a white b/g unless you understand photography!

I'lol have you know that a lot of TLC goes into maintaining that patch of moss, so I can continue to post pics of my pipes, while my wife has the job of looking after the rest of the garden and lawn.

Could this beautiful pipe be a fake? The stem fit perfectly. No blue dots on stem... I can't stop looking at the uniform sandblast.

That's not sandblasted, it's the Sasieni Rustic finish. A carved rustication that follws the grain. I've always thought it was Joel Sasieni's "one upmanship" to his former employer Dunhill's Shell finish.
I must like Sasieni rustics. Stanwell and Savinelli rustics don't come close in my opinion.
The stamping seems misaligned as seen on many Sasieni. Employees can't be that disgruntled, can they?

I assumed all four dot pipes have dots on stems.
I can't tell the difference between sandblast and certain rustics.
