That's because it not Dunhill it is a dunhill store. Small stylized "d." dunhill has everything to do with luxury products and nothing to do with tobacco or pipes. Alfred started in the family business, a company vending luxury products (late 1800s), leather and auto parts (first dashboard clock for cars as an example), for an upscale audience. Alfred didn't get into pipes and tobacco until the 20th century, after observing tobacco pipes and blends were mostly a diversion of the rich, that there was money to be mined. A business it was in for less than a hundred years. I don't believe either tobacco products or pipes were ever the major part of the "Dunhill" marque under Alfred Dunhill's leadership. Only pipe smokers seem to think Dunhill was strictly a tobacco products vendor.
I would suspect Alfred would be very proud of his offspring for the moneys they have made by selling off the name and products. "White Spot" is owned by some of Alfred's offspring, a marked change in that pipes are now what the family sells and they own neither the "Dunhill" nor "dunhill" name.

The Dunhill—or dunhill—store I visited in London had no tobacco, but a cabinet full of Dunhill or White Spot pipes.

I received the same e-mail from GQtobacco and was very puzzled.

Has Russ From pipes&cigars or Sykes from Smoking pipes said anything about BAT/Lane.

Not fufilling their orders for Dunhill tobacco?
As a side note my local tobaccinist just got in new tins of several Dunhill tobaccos.

I asked if the Dunhill tobacco was going to be hard to get in the future?

The gentlman helping me replied as far they know Dunhill tobaccos are readily avaible for them to order.
So, yes it is confusing :?

BAT said that there would be Dunhill branded tobaccos available for 12 to 18 months. So we're at 12 months. They're producing these blends. So there's no mystery here, so far. If you're still able to buy Dunhill branded blends this time next year, THAT would be a mystery.

Thanks for the clarification, I appreciate it. I was under the impression that it was predominantly a cigar lounge, a place for meetings, cigar storage, events, etc. None of the tobacco stores (James Foxes two shops) on St. James ever recommended it as a place to buy blends or tobacco products,so, I've never set foot in it.
Are they indeed also a vendor of tobacco products?

That’s the problem with these elitist forums. If you aren’t in the “in” clique, and you ask a serious question , you just get ridiculed.
Now, is it true that War Horse Green is made in North Korea? I read that somewhere,

Warren-
The Dunhill shop I visited (on or near St. James') sold no tobacco. Seemed like just expensive stuff for women. Didn't go in the back, so didn't see any lounge if there is one.

That's what I was told. Just a usually quiet place to get some work done and enjoy a cigar. I didn't think "Dunhill" had a retail shop in London. No point in competing with James Fox a couple of blocks up the street.

Did you say the interwebs have already determined the blends will be discontinued? :)
Yes, I told him that there were some rumors on the internet and he said:
"I know, I heard the rumors as well, actually that's all we know, there are only rumors, nothing official".
In the thread there was a guy that went to Dunhill in London and asked about the rumors. He said that the salesperson, said he couldn't say anything about it. He went on to say that the salesperson seemed like he wanted to say something, but couldn't. He speculated that there was a buyout coming.
I also felt the same thing, but those are just feelings, not facts.
I can provide the number to one of our UK members, maybe he can obtain more information.

I have it on a good authority that Dunhill is going to sell their pipes and tobacco business to Greg Pease. He has been pining to own Dunhill for many a year. When he gets his hands on it, he will bring Dunhill tobacco to their former glory before the Murray days. As for the pipes, he is planning on bringing Rad Davis out of retirement to make all of the Dunhill pipes.
Now wouldn't this be a wonderful thing!?!

So let me get this straight. When Leonard Wortzel, Brand Manager for Lane, Dunhill's US distributor, posts on PM that:
Here is what we know: BAT plans to cease trading Dunhill Pipe Tobacco in the U.S. in the next 12 - 18 months. The decision was the result of an internal BAT business review.
that is a feeling or a rumor and not a fact?
