Just stop saying pipers and the art of pipe smoking and you’ll be a step ahead.

Will people watch? Probably. Will they like it and keep watching? You won’t know until you try.

Not my style, though.

IBTL.

pipe smokers look down on pipe smokers!
Of course... the very nature of pipesmoking is the exclusivity, and we have to keep the riff raff out of the hobby.
But, it would be interesting to know whether someone who worships the devil looks down on us, or if it is merely a self-deprecating outlook that leads someone down that path to begin with... devilworshipping, not pipesmoking. puffy

I do not own a cell phone nor will I ever so TikTok and Instagram is a no go. I already have a thriving YT channel but no tobacco related stuff on it. I was going to use my podcasting and community influence to start another YT channel and try to help revive the art of smoking a pipe.
You don't need a phone to use TikTok, and you can upload long form content from PC (It seems no one is willing to say exactly how long a video can go).
At the very least it's worth a try since Youtube treats Tobacco like the plague.

I find nothing appealing about watching a monologue about anything, pipe smoking or otherwise.
You hit the nail on the head. Any video longer than 10-15 seconds is utterly boring - Unless special care is taken to make it look like a documentary.
I love the written media and still photos - videos not so much.

Edited to add... I can read at very high speeds, and whatever the monologue has to say over 15 minutes I can probably read within 1 (or max 2) minutes. So I am more productive reading than listening.

I have a successful podcast and an up and coming YT channel Your thoughts?...
My thoughts....if you already have an audience [which you claim to be trying to bring with you to a pipe exclusive channel to promote the hobby to a new group], why not use the platform you already have to see if they will put up with you rambling about pipes, and tobacco. If you want to promote pipe smoking, one the best ways is to go places ...in public...that we haven't been banned from yet....don't be a dick...and let the general public see you smoking a pipe as if it was actually a part of everyday life. Sorry, there is no fame or sponsorship involved with taking your pipe for a walk in the park on Spring afternoon.

Majority of my audience doesn't even smoke hence not trying to bring them specifically but the communities I engage with. Plus I do my podcast indoors and I do not smoke indoors. In addition, I do not wish to create just a playlist on my existing channel. Regardless of the fact, I am going to create a separate channel and bring new energy to the community and rattle cages along the way. I just thought I would get insight from the forum that's all.

Hmmm, I'm not a YT fan to begin with, so I may just be misunderstanding, but are you suggesting people who don't have much experience smoking a pipe start their own programs? Who would this be geared towards? I'm barely able to watch so called experts on there, so it would be really hard for me to watch a newbie.

What sorts of things would a newbie have to offer the Pipe Community?

Might be better than most.. Some of that stuff is embarrassing. I ain't naming no names.. but some of those guys talk to you like your a little kid, and they have all the answers to the universe.

It's Chasingembers, or get the hell out for me on youtube pipe videos.

And Dan.. Dans vids are good stuff.

I watched about 4 of them when I was first starting out and just couldn’t get on board. Not because they were from folks with experience, because they were boring and mundane. A forum works better for me. Ask a question, get some answers. I don’t have to sift through a bazillion videos and watch several to not find what I’m looking for.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the shit out of talking about smoking pipes and smoking them, too. But a one-sided conversation - watching a video - of someone else smoking a pipe and talking about it, is not something I enjoy.

A lot of YTPC is boring, with exceptions Hollywood Briar being one of them he produces Art house pipe and tobacco porn that I'm happy to get lost in for 15mins.The landscape photograpy of Oregon and California alone is worth the time spent
