Never even looked at one, since I clench most of the time. Figured it would be heavy and uncomfortable. Walked into my local B&M a few weeks ago and the owner told me he had just got a shipment of Comoy’s pipes and showed them to me.......all Bulldogs. Once I picked it up, I was hooked! Plus I got this Riband for $90 and it’s super light. It’s becoming a favorite quickly!

My Blue Riband (curved stem) and Tradition. I inherited both pipes from a pipe smoking buddy who was one of my professors in college. 20210202_172411_compress57.jpg

Don't be silly. Everyone knows the California fires were set by a cabal of satan worshipping cardiologists firing cannons loaded with flaming mosquito repellent from North Korean combat blimps just off the coast.
In an attempt to drive the yeti in a fur harvesting operation as their hair can be converted into life extending pills by big pharma.

I never considered myself someone who would own a bulldog pipe. I felt the shape to be pretentious and much to austere for myself. I've smoked pipes for nearly four decades and during that time I never once considered buying one with a bulldog shape. Then, a week ago, I started researching the pipe shapes in my collection. To my horror, three of my most cherished pipes, one of which I've owned for nearly 35 years - a dress black Chacom, turned out to be Rhodesians. How could this be? Never, ever had I or would I consider smoking, let alone cherishing, a bulldog shaped pipe, and yet there, right in front of me, was the evidence. Save but for the squared rhombus-like shape, three of my favorite pipes were indeed bulldogs masquerading as Rhodesians.

It made me reflect. Maybe I needed to reconsider my aversions to bulldogs? And that was enough. Coming soon to my home will be another Chacom, a Comfort 294, bulldog shaped pipe. There it is. I have finally done it.

And what of you?

It would be easier to tell us what you do like...and...GO!!!
Straight Billiards, Straight CLASSIC Dublins (nothing extreme, you know, the Dublins that are almost, but not quite, Billiards), Brandies, if they are done right, and Apples if they are done right. I don't hate Zulus or Yachtmans either. With one exception, all my pipes are by 2 makers.

I hated the way they looked and thought I would never own one. Then, on a lark, I bought a cheapie Stanwell 32 and it smokes so well, that I've changed my mind about them. I'm still not crazy about the standard tall skinny profiles, but I think the squat dogs are great looking pipes.

I received that Stanwell 2 weeks ago and I've already ordered 2 more dogs, one from here on the forum.

Not a big fan of the bulldog or rhodesian shapes, I'm not really sure why though, they just don't appeal to me aesthetically.
I prefer Billiards (including lovats and canadians), pots, pokers and apples.
I'm not very keen on the blowfish or tomato shapes either, they seem impractical and overly extravagant to me.
I have 1 bulldog pipe, it's a Cesare Barontini, it's one of my first pipes and I I never smoke it, in fact it's been in the "To sell" box for the last couple of years.
