I'm guessing just not reading it wouldn't be enough for you...

End the conversation because you don't like it. That makes good sense, dont it?
Makes great sense to me, I don't make comments without reading it all, this is not the place to argue about Religion, it insults some people and some other religions, I am not at all religious and don't want to read it on here, this is not the place for it.

If you can live with it, I can too.

Just seems odd to end a coversation between other people, because you don't want to take part in it.

There is quite a bit of that going around these days, though.

This thread is about pipe smoking and the spiritual effect it has on many others. No where did anyone suggest it was about religion. Pipe smoking has been and has had a spiritual relationship with smokers since before the English first came here. Many pipe smokers experience a spiritual connection with pipe smoking. Why, would anyone deny them the ability to discuss this topic. It transcends religions.

Just me, or did nobody else hear anyone arguing about religion? Having a good conversation, I thought, about the inate transcendental potential of pipe smoking as a human activity. Terribly sorry if that's offensive, but I for one am still interested in what others might have to say about it. I might learn something, even.

As others alluded to, the word "spirituality" is one that is forced to carry a great deal of semantic weight due to the poverty of our language. It's a necessary but ultimately unwieldy word.

As far as it concerns myself and any religious or cultural practice, no, pipe smoking is not spiritual; I long since left my church and religion. But pipe smoking can help me meditate and reflect, which some consider a spiritual exercise of a kind. In that sense and only in that sense can I answer in the affirmative.

Interesting topic, though! Enjoying the conversation this far. 👍

Agreed. We ask the question all the time, “What does one get from smoking a pipe?” Well, for many, historically, culturally, and socially, pipe smoking has maintained a spiritual significance. Imagine if it was only about packing, cleaning, and burning tobacco? For some, that would be fine enough, but for many others , it wouldn‘t do it. So we ask the question- does it hold a spiritual significance for you? If it does, discuss. If it doesn’t, ignore the thread. I can’t see why this would be an issue?
