I'm finding there are too many people who can't realize that the 24-to-48 hour bug which has become commonly referred to as "the flu," (formerly spelled something like "flux") is NOT THE SAME THING as influenza. That is a misunderstanding that can kill ya.

This coronavirus' contagion rate makes it seem like the ideal weaponized virus. Are there any Chinese military laboratories in the Wuhan region? Containment for a patient or two is much more practicable than containment when mass manufacturing the same virus.

It seems the entire staff of the Pandemic specialists the CDC had were fired several months ago, with no replacements intended.

You decide,

If this were a bio weapon it isn't a good one. Doesn't have a high mortality rate, not great at spreading quickly (3 months and only 100k infected), plus virus doesn't survive on surfaces very long. Seems coughing and sneezing is the best way it spreads, whereas a weaponized anthrax has many more ways to spread.
The best weapon isn't the one that kills, but the one that wounds: it forces the enemy to care for the wounded, slowing them down, demoralising them, reducing their fighting efficiency to nigh zero.

IF it was a bioweapons experiment that sneaked out of the Chicom lab.. it was probably a Work In Progress or some stored virus for further experimentation, or a failure that just got out..

But most likely its a fluke like SARS or MERS or N1H1 or any other such mutation.. Occams Razor and all that.
Well, there's the proverb, "whoever digs a hole for his neighbour risks falling in himself". Likely what it just happened.

I wouldn't put it beyond China's government to test their weapons on their own people. They've surplus population, don't they?

Ah, the possibilities to speculate about are endless....

Oh, the New York Post. Well, that's different, I'm still reeling from the classic newsworthy headline of "Bezos Exposes Pecker. "

Here's something a bit more vetted :

Well, that's just the 'scientis' kissing Jinping's arse. I'm a scientist too and I tell you not to put blind credence on 'respectable and peer reviewed' publications. The MSM and their more formal journals buddies are strongly pro-China. It's made blatantly obvious with the so-called climate 'crisis': they will castigate the West with abandon and vengeance but they will not say anything negative about China, the greatest polluter and generator of emissions. Peer review became pal review long time ago.

Reposted from another fora:

"[T]his Covid-19 virus is extremely dangerous due to it's ability to spread so efficiently.

Other less efficient viruses only spread by person to person physical contact, others spread by droplets in the air from sneezes & coughs, but THIS ONE can also spread by "aerosol mist" which is much smaller than droplets and that's what makes it so efficient & dangerous. Therefore, COVID-19 has potential to kill more people than any other virus we've seen to date, simply because it will infect so many more people.

The percentage who actually die from Covid-19 has still not been reliably determined because they don't have accurate data on how many are actually infected and they also don't know how long a quarantine period is required for the virus to be totally eliminated from the isolated area. Some are speculating it could take up to 60 or 90 days to totally be safe in a quarantined area. THIS MEANS.. you get yourself infected, be prepared to be quarantined for up to 90 days!!!

If you think a surgical mask will save you, THINK AGAIN!

Due to the "spread by aerosol mist" issue, you need to also protect your eyes because the mist can infect you through the moisture in your eyes. If someone sneezes or coughs that mist can travel throughout an entire room and travel much further than the typical "spread by droplets" as ordinary highly contagious viruses do.

In addition to all that protection, if you do not properly remove & correctly handle the mask & eye protection, you also stand to infect yourself.

Another reported danger of this COVID-19 virus, it's potential to be spread to others as an infected person may present no outward noticeable symptoms and still be highly contagious. This how some experts are speculating the virus initially escaped from the virus research laboratory located near the China market where this all began. Lab personnel unwittingly became infected and spread it while not having any outward symptoms. Again, just speculation, going on everything else currently known about COVID-19.

Some useful but not totally complete info from the CDC...
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Excerpt from CDC link above...

Person-to-person spread

The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.

* Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet)

* Via respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

Spread from contact with infected surfaces or objects

It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

When does spread happen?

* People are thought to be most contagious when they are most symptomatic (the sickest).

* Some spread might be possible before people show symptoms; there have been reports of this with this new coronavirus, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads. "

So, cookies and possibly gin, but what about Stonehaven??? What use is a mothership if it doesn’t have any Stonehaven? How can you smoke your Stonehaven if the mothership doesn’t have any tobacco?

So, yeah, I’ve got questions too.
