The answer to this will obviously be extremely subjective and, in my opinion, has a lot to do with the memories associated with certain blends.

In short, you probably won't find but rather make your comfort blend.

For me, this is Solani Aged Burley Flake. It was the first "Ultimate Smoke" experience I ever had. There's just something about those flavours that still hit me and make me feel happy.

Good luck!

The term was invented at the Washington Post by a lady who was describing being emotionally compromised and who needed food to console her feelings. The context was that it should be something familiar and from your childhood.

I don’t like to use it in my vernacular because I feel like I’m watching a daytime talk show when I hear it, but I supposed it could be interchanged with your “go to daily smoke” or maybe a first or favorite blend. Mine would be C&D Bayou Morning, which I break all my pipes in with and the ghost of this blend forms the base of all of my pipe cakes, hence my user name.

I'm stuggling a bit with applying the term, "comfort food," to tobaccos. I love comfort foods, like macaroni and cheese, but seldom eat the stuff. So is "comfort food tobacco" an all day smoke, or that special treat one enjoys occasionally?

I smoke tobacco because I've developed and appreciation for the experience slowing down to a contemplative, quiet smoke. That, and the nicotine, give me comfort every day. I don't chow down on traditional comfort food every day, but I do smoke every day. So... the notion of a "comfort food tobacco" is different for me and does not have a direct comparison to comfort food.

So... contrary to the opinion of the OP, codger blends CAN be someone's comfort food. Also, whatever is in the blend may be a source of comfort for some but not so good for others.

Caveats applied, my "go to" smokes in my current rotation are:

C&D Pegasus
C&D Blue Ridge
GLP Cumberland
perique blended with with a generous helping of smoke shop bulk "bag tobacco," currently D&R Two Timer or Kentucky Select Gold.

Treat tobaccos smoked not every day are:

My limited supply of various Mac Baren HH blends
Gawith Brown and Black Bogie twists
GLP Quiet Nights
GLP Horizons
straight perique, but really liking that 51% Beast tobacco that C&D recently released

This all can change next month.

My go-to "comfort blend" is Balkan Sasieni. I've only ever had the current production, but the first time I smoked it, I had the immediate sensation of "Ooooh, so *this* is why people smoke pipes, for this pleasant and delightful feeling." The aroma, the taste, the smooth burn, everything worked together that night to make a sublime experience. I've been chasing that every time I load a bowl. And while I get that feeling often, I know I will always have it when I load a bowl of Sasieni.

I may not have stacks upon stacks of it in my cellar, but I always have at least one or two tins of Sasieni to back up my open jar.

The first blend that comes to mind by your description of comfort food is Lamb with Jam by The Country Squire. Unfortunately that was a limited release and I have no idea if it will ever be available again. I hope so.

Recently Jupiter is becoming my “comfort food” tobacco.

Like everyone else says though its all subjective. Burley is my comfort zone YMMV 😗💨

I have a pipe stuck in my craw on and off throughout the day. If I am doing yard work or puttering with another task I am smoking Carter Hall. In fact I have a pouch of it in my front pocket all the time for a quick grab. But if I am reading, around a camp fire, watching a good movie or hanging out with friends my normal comfort tobaccos are Orlich Golden Sliced, Boswells Private Stock(very similar to OGS), Pegasus or Boswells Hunter Choice( if I want a sweeter tobacco). Of course I have a large cellar but I come back to these tobaccos again and again!
