The other day someone posted about delayed gratification.
During this conversation I brought up the weirdos that like to DG a cigar. I said I didn't really care for DGing a pipe, but cigars were FAR worse.
Weeeeell, this brings us to yesterday.
We had my wifes good friend and her husband staying at our home for a few days. They are from Florida so we don't see them much....we are in WNY.
They have one of those tents that mount to the roof of their truck, so they stayed in it....with their FOUR dogs.
Anyways, yesterday I cooked some ribeyes from our cattle, grilled some corn and had a great meal.
After the food I decided to have a cigar. For those that don't know, I used to be heavily into cigars before I started piping.
I quit everything for about 7 years, so my already 8 year old cigars had another 7 years rest in the humidors.
I still smoke the occasional cigar, but not too often. I'm just a freak that babysits a humidor for 15 years, only smoking maybe 6 a year.
So, the husband says he really likes an occasional cigar. Great, let's have a cigar.
He chooses a beautiful Torpedo shaped Fuente Anjeo...dark and oily....15+ years of age on it.
I chose a Padron Anniversary, also oily and beautiful.
We light up, puff for a few minutes, about 5 minutes ...and I go in the house for a second.
I come out and find the Fuente snubbed out in the ashtray. I asked if there was an issue eith the cigar. Dude says, "yeah, that's not my cup of tea".
Ok, I said......"that's unfortunate".
He says, "I really like the Backwoods cigars."
A 15 year old Fuente Anjeo, oily and perfect....snubbed in the ashtray after puffing a quarter inch.
I realize these Fuente aren't the BEST cigars, but he was aware that ive been painstakingly taking care of them for 15+ years!
And no, I will NOT DG it.
It had its band stripped off and pinned to the wall of my garage. The cigar is in the trash.
I have 2 of those Anjeos left....and NOBODY is getting one.
