Thanks for the article. Below is the allocation graph for one of my funds. I believe you can see it is quite conservative.

That’s quite an interesting asset allocation. Currently it is very conservative, but 5 years ago it was balanced. It has Alternatives and Real Estate exposure, not found in many funds. I am sure it is actively managed [Given the 2019 rebalancing into fixed income] and possibly invested into other actively managed fund of funds. Actively managed funds are managed by Fund Managers who are supposed to have very deep insights.

Just by looking into the asset allocation it is harder to say anything more. Since you are happy with it, that’s what matters.

I personally don’t prefer active management but that’s very debatable and there are a lot of very convincing arguments on both sides.

My funds are actively managed. They worked with me to develop a risk profile I was comfortable with. I chose active management because I don't have the knowledge, experience or desire to spend the time myself. I'd prefer setting the goals and metrics then allowing an expert to do their thing. One of my primary objectives is to minimize the dip in the event of a crash.

Fillmore, Stratford, JKP, SPC Plum Pudding, Union Square, Newminster Light Burley and SNF.

I’ve got a few pounds of other stuff in tins, mainly C&D CRF, Sunset Harbor Flake and GLP Stonehenge. My cellar is more wide than deep but I have put away what I like in more quantity than others. I have a ton of single tins that I’ll eventually get around to.

That logic totally escapes me. If you smoke them infrequently, you must not like them that much. If they go away, you'll only miss them infrequently. Focus your cellaring efforts on the blends you smoke most often. If you get those adequately covered, then branch out if you're
Maybe rather than focusing on what people are cellaring specifically - the real question is why are they cellaring. Just an opinion.

I’m sure there is aging potential - but, what I’m loading up on are blends I really enjoy. The blend itself isn’t near as important as my personal like for them. I don’t care who likes what. For taste testing- it’s good to know other’s thoughts - but, trying out tobacco with an ounce or two vs. cellaring pounds is just a different conversation.

Are you cellaring on other’s tastes or your own?
My own tastes. As mentioned, I have reached the point of wanting to start a cellar, maybe only 20 tins or pouches. I was really wondering if people had any experience of cellaring tobacco that didn’t age at all well, for whatever reason. Also I was being nosey as to what people were actually cellaring. As to the reasons behind my wanting to cellar: rising prices, changing blends, disappearing blends. ??

McClellands are the majority of my cellar, since it was my favorite maker of Virginias before tits up. And, 5100 Red Cake is by far the one blend I have the most of.

If you love it, stock up. We didn’t get much of a warning before we lost McClellands. No joke. Any company can close up in the snap of a finger.
And any remaining stock can fly off the shelves in minutes as a consequence!

I don't have much of a cellar. Actually, most tins that I have stored are the ones I don't want to smoke anymore haha.

When I was trying all new tobaccos, I didn't see the need to buy lots of any of them yet. And now that I now what I like and I could buy in larger quantities, buying from the US has been made way more expensive through tariffs, and I'm not really passionate about any tobaccos made in Europe.

So, I started to experiment with whole leaf. And when I find a good source, this time I will stock up a bit more.

mostly VA blends. right now im smoking some VA blends that i bought from my local B&M when i started smoking that had 10+ years on them. also some aromatics and burleys while my younger VA purchases get some time on them. id say the backbone of my "cellar" right now is Peterson DNR, Wessex Dark Flake and Wessex Curley block.

.......and a few other bits and bobs...............

I'm 58..........................hopefully got another 20-25 years.......I smoke about 5-6 bowls per week.....this will increase when I fully retire in 7 years to 10ish bowls.
If I reach 75 and I'm fully with it, then I plan on smoking as much as possible.....along with drinking as much SHiraz, Leffe and malt whiskey as possible......

The cost in the U.K. looks like it will keep increasing until not many can afford to buy tobacco. Apart from a few OTG blends It's probably easier and cheaper to buy that other sort of weed at the minute.............madness when its illegal!

I may have a look at growing some Burley as a retirement hobby if the northern UK climate permits!.....hold on....that will probably be illegal by then as well...............

At this moment I feel an inch wide but a mile deep... I'd be happy to stock up on just University Flake.

But I've just scratched the surface of available blends and have a whole lot to try.

Still, there's something very addictive bout' that topping in UF.
