Guys, come on, I just recently quit looking into and buying lenses for my poor ole Nikon D40. I got it at a pawnshop for $70 with the kit lens. Bought a nice 35mm dx prime, a 55-100 zoom, and a 85mm prime all DX lenses. I thought about getting FX lenses but decided I'd have no rational use to ever get a full frame camera. I do plan on upgrading the body sometime, but it seems to do just about everything I need it to so I haven't really jumped back on that train again yet.

The equipment only takes you so far.
So true. My wife often takes more artful photos with her iPhone than I am capturing at the same location with a bagload of advanced gear. Fortunately, with digital gear, I can shoot enough to get lucky sometimes.
For the record, I'm agnostic when it comes to camera systems, but you have to choose. Since I had no prior investment in Canon nor Nikon glass, I decided to jump on the Sony mirrorless bandwagon right after the A7Rii came out. I mostly shoot my A7iii these days. I'm very pleased with the system.

The body I had most fun shooting with was the Panasonic GX1. So small, light, telepathic AF and with the touch-screen Af selection it was laughable easy to discretely setup the shot. Ultimately though, the IQ wasn't quite there, although looking back at what I produced, no good shot was ruined from being taken with a M4/3. We all know it's what's in the shot, rather than what took the shot but we still buy more gear! For BIF, you do need a Nikon or Canon....for the moment. Sony has done an amazing job in 4 years starting from nothing. That is industrial might!

I used a friend's 70D at the SH GP for about half an hour. That was a challenge! I think I got about 3 cars in frame then gave up and started taking shots of pretty girls. 8)

I do not wish to derail this interesting and informative camera conversation but would really like to see what these 300+ pound cellars look like. Is there a thread on here where people show off pictures of their stash?

This was mine about 3 years ago or so.

A person should cellar as much as they want and can afford, even if it never gets smoked. Seeing some of these old blends go for big money per tin, you will leave it to some family member as an inheritance. And if you want to cellar ARO's do it! I think the myth that they don't cellar well is greatly over exaggerated. I have tried some that were 30+ years old and they taste just fine, maybe milder and smoother even.

No
Unless you think it’s ok to suck all the oxygen out of the room , since , it’s affordable

My cellar is 20 tins and 5 jars, maybe 60 oz total. So around x mas if there is a sale I may buy some more. Tastes do change and that is why I am keeping it light.
