Entertainment for the Anal Retentive Personality: ?

As a result of working from home, I find myself with a few minutes in between busy times to do personal stuff. I have completely organized my cellar documenting each and every ounce by Brand, Blend, Blend Type, age, Location, and weight using Pivot Tables and cross referencing. I could grab you any particular can, pouch or jar in 3 seconds flat!

The results:

My cellar weighs 122 pounds and is broken down by type as follows:

Type Percent of total weight

American Blends 1.3%
Aromatics 14.1%
Balkan Blends 7.6%
Burley Blends 4.0%
English Blends 30.0%
Oriental Blends 4.3%
Scottish Blends 2.3%
VaBurs 6.4%
VaPers 18.9%
Virginias 10.4%

Time well spent!
I have been doing this all the time - but you win!
1. I don’t have the location!
2. I don’t have the genre

But my pivot tables will tell you what company I am favoring (C&D) , which is the deepest blend in my cellar (Old Joe Krantz), and a curious metric - 1-Q is still in top 5 tobacco since I bought 18 ounces in my first week.

I also have a trend graph to plot my cellar growth and consumption pattern over time!

I mostly know which cupboards, dressers, pantry shelves and drawers my cellared tobaccos live in.

Mostly. I think.

It’s broken down by ... well, shit, I liked it when I bought it and if I’m not sure if there’s enough then buy more?

Yeah, that’s a legitimate cellaring plan, right? Right???

I've jars of shit spread between NYC, Weezell's place and Lutz in Florida. I've a got a shit load of plug, twist and a few odd tins I've been gifted along the way. I am a veritable roving caravan of nicotine and I think the combined stash will out last me, most of my friends and certainly poison a few public health officials before I get to look the devil in the eye! rotf

You’re talking my language.

I have these metrics as well as tobaccos contained in each blend by composition, flavor by prevalence, and cost analysis that averages cost across purchases of the same blend across different vendors, current price that I’ve seen older, harder to find blends sell for to be able to create some type of proposed profit analysis should I decide to sell, as well as a perceived value to me based on enjoyment to cost numbers. These are, of course, based on my 4 category, 1-5 rating system for each blend, also in the sheet and “pivot-able.”

I've started sorting mine by blender, that's about it. I have too much, and more always rolling in. 100ish jars of bulk and open tins and pounds of favorite blends. Loads of sealed tins too. This friggin addiction need to stop.

Hm, not sure about such an approach. I already find things I'd forgotten about in my chaotic pile of tobacco, and I wouldn't want to go without such fun surprises. I couldn't tell within 20 lbs how much I've got put up.

I was just thinking about this and had an idea - you can assign each blend a desired age for cellaring, make a column in your master data sheet for ‘days in cellar,’ and then conditionally format to be highlighted when it reaches a certain age so you basically have an alarm clock, of sorts, for when blends have reached a predetermined age to open and smoke.

I write the names of the blends and occasionally the date on the lids of the jars I put tobacco in. Most of them are in one room. Organized.puffy
