1. '79-1/2 Ford Mustang 5.0L
2. Porsche "VW" 914 2.0L
3. VW Rabbit
4. VW Golf
5. Dodge Neon
6. Jeep Grand Cherokee
7. Honda Accord
8. Ford F-150 3.5L Econ (twin turbo :) )

Favorite would be the 914. It was a POS, but was so fun to drive (and sooo low to the ground).
I almost bought a 914 when I was 18, it was offered for $900 but I turned it down because parts for it would be expensive.

First car: 1996 BMW 318i purchased used in 2001. It was pretty slow for a BMW but cornered like it was on rails. The e36 BMW series was one of the best handling cars ever produced.
Since then:
1999 Saab 9-3 5 door that was killed by a hailstorm in 2006.
2002 Volvo S60
2002 Saab 9-3 Convertible that I’m still driving. Bought it in 2011 with 55k miles for 7k USD, never driven during the winter. It's been my daily driver for a decade (and has now been driven in many winters)!

During that time, my wife has driven:
90s era Pontiac Bonneville
2005 Honda CRV
2011 Subaru Legacy
And the "new car"in the family, a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe. It has all the modern bells and whistles, and will almost drive itself. Great road trip car!

I have owned a succession of cheap, old and rubbish cars from -

my first - a 1993 Skoda Felicia (bought in 2007)

my second - a Ford Fiesta that cost £400 and was utter crap.

my third -1996 Ford Mondeo Estate (given to me free, had no heating, no working turbo or boot)

The engines of the first two, exploded (head gasket) and I wrote off the third.

Until I got married since which we’ve had a succession of practical, sensible mileage cars -

Two Ford Galaxy people carriers and now a Mazda 6 estate (which I really like as it’s fairly powerful without being a gas guzzler and nice to drive).

I have a 1977 iron head that is out in the barn I sold my 07 nightrain a year or so back it just got to dangerous to ride. I owned a couple of peterbilts and a couple of freightliner classic back in my trucking days. My daily driver is a 2004 F150 I bought from my dad a few months before he passed away and I will probably drive it till it falls apart. It only gets about 15 miles a day so I think it will last awhile

First car 1966 Pontiac Tempest.
Second Triumph Spitfire. Had a Chrysler LeBaron convertible and a couple of Cadillacs, two Jeep Wranglers. Drive a Mustang now, but my favorite was a 1986 Mercedes 560 SL

it had less than 10,000 miles when I got it. It belonged to an insurance agent. After he got it, he decided it wasn’t fast enough, so he got a Porsche 928. Then he decided his wife wasn’t fast enough, so he got a girlfriend. In divorce court, the judge said, “Either give the Mercedes to your wife or get rid of it.”. He told me if I picked up the note, I could have it. I kept it until about four years ago.

1. 1995 Honda Civic LX. Owned for an year when I came to US for the first time (2004-2005)

2. (In India) 2005 Suzuki Esteem VXi. I still own it and it has survived terrible punishment of Indian traffic so far. I still ride it during my vacations to India (2005-current)

3. 2012 Acura TSX Sportswagon. Excellent family car and immaculate engineering, but being Japanese was under powered. A kid failed to yield in a highway when I was driving at 50 mph, and T-Boned me. My son and I survived, but the car did not (2012-2016)

4. 2016 BMW 228i Rear wheel drive convertible - Anyone who has not driven this car, will not even realize what gem of a car this is! This is a car where the man and the machine become one, and one realizes what a drivers car truly is. Still own it, and may own it for a long time (2016-current)

5. 2013 Mini Cooper Countryman Sport - Another gem, but in some ways it always fell short. A large mini was a compromise between a family car and a fun car. It was always eclipsed by the other BMW I had, which is a better car! It had it moments however, during some spirited backroads cornering. It officially was my wife’s car, but I drove it a lot! It was totaled when an complete idiot rear ended me with violent force in a stop and go traffic of 10-15 miles per hour (2016-2018)

6. 2018 BMW X2 - Belonged to my wife, and for all practical purposes a ‘chic’ fashionista type of car. Good in passing other cars in the freeway, cool look, nice handling but not fast off the line. Traded it in on Valentine’s Day (2018-2021)

7. 2021 BMW X5 - Family is growing, and we wanted a big, comfortable family car for the family and for my wife. Lots of power, but so far I have not been able to use it fully. The steering is light with less feel, the suspension is supple but still handles great. Nice to drive, lots of power, luxurious but cannot be called a drivers car. More of a grand tourer. Valentine’s Day gift for wife, she is quite happy! (2021)

I used to restore cars for a living when I was much younger and have had my finished work displayed in the centerfold of Road & Track Magazine (December, 1987), and one that sits solemnly, in a museum. Sadly, I have no love for cars left after working on them for so long. I own a 2019 Dodge Promaster (159” wheelbase, high top) that is both my company van and my daily driver.

Here is the museum piece: https://flic.kr/p/29NXxWy

I was lucky to grow up with a gear head father with a live of restoring and souping up hot rods. First car was a barn find ‘70 0lds 442 and she was a labor of love. Two years of sweat and every dime my brother and I worked for went into her. Three months after she rolled out of the garage all cherry my brother wraps it around a telephone pole street racing. My second car, my baby, my own project, was a ‘71 Karmann Gia convertible with custom body work and a souped up engine. There’s been a plethora of others, trucks, cars and motorcycles but nothing stood out more than my first two cars.
