I like this post because the hobbit pieces was funny, but $15 bucks for 50g is crazy cheap. That tin would cost you either a medium beaver pelt, or 5 lbs of pemmican in Canada. I heard in NZ, you're only allowed one tin in your life because they enter you on a list for when someone needs a kidney.

Beaver pelts I have! Frog skins a plenty!

They aren't really comparable IMO. Virginia Flake is much more of an aromatic.

Capstan is a Navy blend, so it's not completely unadulterated.

Capstan has some aromatic qualities, but they are so elegantly applied that there is no telling what they are and the results are perfect to my palate.

Yeah, some of us a still currently lucky bc we can purchase online from out of state and not pay excise tax of 70-80% plus sales tax of 8%. So yeah, I should be paying about $30.

Agreed. A pouch of some soulless STG blend costs about 30 USD in Canada.

With the pipe tobacco tax here a tin of capstan is $25 at the B&M plus $1.75 sales tax so $26.75 out the door.

Back when estervals didn't suck, I bought several pounds of Cap as ran Blue. The price was very reasonable.

I believe the point biz was trying to make is that CB is expensive in relation to the price of other blends at twice the price per ounce. I'm sure this translates in prices in countries outside the US. Could be the quality of the leaf or the process, who knows

Elk antler velvet powder, actually. There's an elk farm about 2 mins drive from my house. Chinese people pay a lot for it so it's a valuable trade item.
