would anyone recommend dunhill night cap or morning for journey lol?
Big time. Especially when it’s an insanely goopy aro that will never dry.It always seems that any thread about CB usually turns into a CB hate thread. Some good advice given though. I think it's always a common misconception that beginners should start with aromatics, which is a shame because it usually ends badly.

I was gonna say, "Can't taste CB Cherry? You're either perfectly normal, or -- dat 'rona."?Can't taste an aromatic in your cob? You might have cornronavirus.
I'll see myself out.
yummy lolsit's hard to recommend a blend to a new pipe smoker. Though I will say I like cigar leaf blends. And I think they're a good place for former cigar smokers to go. I feel like there is enough familiar and unfamiliar to be perfect. There is an element that we already know is liked the cigar leaf, and enough other stuff to kind of help nudge that ah ha moment of what a pipe can do. I like James Fox the Bankers a lot and Key Largo. The first is more cigar substitute and the latter is more hint of cigar with creamy coffee and some leather.
Pretty close to my story too. OGS may not have been the first where I felt like that. But it was one of them.If you can find it, I recommend Orlik Golden Slice.
Probably not what most people consider a starter tobacco, but when I was starting out it saved my pipe life.
Aros were finicky and didn’t deliver what I thought they should.
The latakia flavor in English blends made me wretch.
I found Orlik GS handled easily, smoked easily, and delivered good, uncomplicated tobacco flavor. It was the first pipe I genuinely enjoyed.
I thought so too. First time smoking it was a hot day in my car. Packed it up and lit it while driving.. and it was still eye opening for me.Pretty close to my story too. OGS may not have been the first where I felt like that. But it was one of them.
great thing is it’s very forgiving in drying and cadence.
What flavors do you get from cigars? Maybe your tongue isn't built for tasting aromatics (not joking). I've been smoking for 30 years and have never tasted aromatics. I know how to smoke slow, barely keep it lit and all the other "techniques". I think some people just don't taste aromatics.im a new guy i got a corn cob and cb cherry is it normal not to taste aromatics? Thanks Guys
you might be right like i can handle a strong spicy tobacco cigar but cant taste to much flavored ones unless they are heavy flavoredWhat flavors do you get from cigars? The old Peterson’s Irish Flake was the blend that probably kept me from quitting pipes when I first started. It was the first non-aromatic I smoked, and was that “eureka” moment for me. I wouldn’t recommend it to someone who’s never had strong tobacco like cigars or snuff, but since you smoke cigars, it would probably be a good one for you. The current version is a bit milder (I liked the old one better), but I would still recommend it. Strong Burleys and dark fired Kentucky will probably be safe bets if you’re looking for that spicy “pure tobacco” taste.you might be right like i can handle a strong spicy tobacco cigar but cant taste to much flavored ones unless they are heavy flavored
