Just got together with Isaac, quite the box. Added a custom aromatic, some Vanilla Maple, and McClellend's Dark full English. Smoking some black irish twist, very pleasant, I thought it was too dry but I think this may be the secret to these ropes as I enjoyed it quite a bit. A charred steak taste, didn't put me on my knees like I thought it would, only one niccup. Huge box of tobacco, congratulations this is a good box pass.

Bowl Fifteen: Bengal slices

Smoked in a falcon.
I enjoyed this blend, but don't need to smoke again necessarily, I have been realising more and more that my staple english blends though limited in quantity provide me with all I need in that department.
Bowl Sixteen: Cotton Boll Twist

Smoked in a billiard.
Well this kicked my arse! I am glad to have tried this out but I will leave it for those with a stronger stomach than I, its beyond my nicotine comfort zone.
It was nice to meet Andrew tonight, fellow Winnipeger and forum member, I came away with a new hobby to invest in...anyone got a strop for a razor they dont need? he he.

Well after the black irish twist loaded up a bowl of sweet coconut twist, my nicotine tolerance has definitely come along. Nice kind of a tea taste with pure tobacco goodness. Don't worry Isaac we'll get you straight razor shaving. A strop is the least of your worries.

Can't wait to get my hand on that box))) Meanwhile today I had my first ever after-breakfast smoke. Puffed a BB1938 match in Albin Saxophone while drinking black tea with ground cardamom seeds. It was heavenly...

Smoked another bowl of stonehaven, it's good but not worth chasing in my opinion. I may not have found the right pipe for it yet but overall it's enjoyable but not quite the manna from heaven that people describe it as, I can see if it was a readily available blend people would probably be chasing something else and it would be just another tobacco.
Solani white and black was good, I had no idea there was latakia in it until I looked it up. I think my meershaum may be a bit ghosted from the erinmore I've been smoking steadily in it for awhile, resulting in the overall experience being a bit slanted.
I'm pretty sure I had some dunbar today, that was really good and I thoroughly enjoyed it and would purchase a bag if I had the chance.
Overall I just have a bunch of different tobacco in baggies and can't remember what is what except for some stuff, as I didn't really want to fall in love with a new tobacco as there's enough I have already, but I have a good idea of what is what, and some of it I know for sure of what it is.
Warhorse readyrubbed was pleasent as well as the John Cotton #1 and #2, it's a pleasure to have all of these different bowls of blends.
1792 flake I took enough for a few bowls as there was quite a bit in the bag, that is a strong smoke, but I couldn't taste whatever tonquin bean is. It does have a vanilla like scent to it, but overall it just tastes like strong tobacco. I can't see myself buying it but it's good if you want a strong smoke, it has those cigar kind of notes to it and a good amount of nicotine, a good end of the day smoke. Black Irish twist so far has probably been my biggest surprise, I love that stuff, charred steak and oil taste, mmm mmmm good.

Bowl Eighteen: University Flake.

Smoked in a meer.
This was a pleasant smoke, nothing mind blowing I guess, but what I would expect from a peterson flake, fairly subtle fruity notes...I was out for a walk in the neighbourhood for most of the bowl and I came across a gooseberry bush, (I was taught by my mother the idea that fruit on the outside of a fence is free for all, although have noticed not everyone else agrees ha) anyway a small handful of gooseberries midbowl was the perfect accompaniment to such a stroll and flake combination. I would smoke this again although that solani silver flake I just tried would win out in a tin war at the checkout.
Bowl Nineteen: Meat Pie

Smoked in a billiard.
Well it was a hearty blend, aptly named. I smoked it upside down thanks to the little sun shower that happened while I was walking, that never bothers me though, unless its hard rain. The Latakia had frontman syndrome through the whole bowl, I did not pick up on much else to be honest. I think after a tin of the meat pie I would have more to say, and I would not be opposed to buying a tin in the future.
My time is done, and I have been waiting for Jim, Jkrug to respond saying he is ready for BOB (Box Of Baccy) to come over.

cheers

Isaac

Hi guys, hope everyone is doing well. Looks like the box is being enjoyed as it makes it's way around...that's a good thing!
Got your email Isaac and I am not ready for the box. Heading out of town today and not returning for a couple weeks. Lets fire it off to ben88 and when he's done with it he can send it my way. My hours at work have been crazy, averaging about 74 hours a week for the last few months but they will going back down to normal when I return from vacation so I will be able to hang out here again. Looking forward to that.
Isaac I will pm you ben88's addy.
tonyweibe33 we look forward to you joining the box pass when the time comes. The box is packed full of smoking goodness!!
Guys I will update the address list when I return from vacation in a couple weeks.
That's all for now.
Cheers, Jim :puffy:

Okay 1792 flake revisited, I found the right pipe for this last night, my old dark fired pipe which is a tall bowl and not very big, narrow bowl. I would say Tonquin bean reminds me of hops in beer almost, this is like the strong IPA of tobacco's, you're either going to love it or hate it. It was much nicer and not as harsh in my briar, still a strong smoke though. The tonquin bean is very bitter tasting, and it is a very full stout blend. Had a really good nic hit, I was glued to the couch for around 20 minutes after a bowl, then when I felt okay I made my way down to bed.

BOB (Box of Baccy) shipped out tonight Ben88, tracking number is 0103794000283438
I took a plastic pipe holder and the lovely little bowling pin wooden tamper, thanks! I did not quite get to my 32 bowls but I am very happy with the 19 I managed to smoke, thanks guys!
My only slip up was packaging up the box in the truck outside the post office quickly before they closed and I did not realise until driving home later that I had left the entire bag of 1792 flake on the seat!!!! sorry fellas.

I have three ideas:

1. Ben88, If you were hoping to sample this I will send it on to you, also if anyone coming up on the list is expecting to try it then I will still send on to Ben88.

2. If no one is fussed I will cellar it away until BOB comes back.
I put all the current baccy bags into two giant bags (roughly Lat/non lat) and threw in a couple of the little cigar humidifier bag things, a couple of the blends were crunchy dry. I put in half a tin of balkan beauty that i cracked outside the post office, and half a tin of tsuge fujin.
thanks all!!!

Isaac

Thank you Isaac. I'm in no rush with 1792, there is always next time.

No worries about dry blends - I'll re-hydrate them.

I'm extremely happy about Balkan Beauty - I was just contemplating ordering a tin.

You're in for a treat ben, the box is overflowing. I couldn't believe it when I saw it in person compared to how it started. Just had some cotton ball twist, now that is the strongest rope I've smoked so far. I could take about 2 puffs and then would have to wait for the niccups to go away.
