The box has arrived!

Holy smokes guys, I'm not sure where to start! I'm thinking a nice aro after supper and then a night cap of who knows what. I'm glad I'm off work next week, I'm going to be smoking constantly. There are lots here I want to try.

Have fun! And take a bunch of samples to try later on, in case you can't get around to everything you want to try right away.

No dark times will be if they stop international shipping, just walk into a B&M and check out the prices, even with the low dollar you're still saving at least 20$ on a 50 gram tin, even more than that usually.
:crying: I don't even want to think about that ever happening Andy.
Jim, good to see the box arrived safe and sound. Dig through it and have some smoking fun and enjoyment. I hope you don't catch the Bubonic Plague or whatever it was drezz had!! :laughat:
Soory, couldn't help myself. :D

This has been the driving force behind my growing cellar. At the rate I smoke it's not the price that is my main concern, it's the paltry selection that is a real killjoy.
The box has arrived! ... I'm glad I'm off work next week, I'm going to be smoking constantly.
Nice timing! Definitely try to make a dent in the contents of that box while you have time off. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on those blends - since you have a full week to recover, give the twist a shot and let us all know how you react.
I hope you don't catch the Bubonic Plague or whatever it was drezz had!!
Bubonic? Pleh, I will let you know it was only the finest and most exotic of plagues in which I was afflicted. The bubonic is a peasant's plague.

I've already found a couple of winners. I rode the War Horse into work this morning and it was glorious. I'm really interested in what the plug will be like once it's released. The McCranie's Red Ribbon is very nice, too bad it's hard to come by here because I can see putting a couple of tins in the cellar. I thought Golden Days of Yore was really good for an aro and got compliments while I was smoking it. I'll be trying some of the English and Balkan blends over the weekend but latakia isn't really my thing, maybe I'll find something to change my mind. As far as the twist goes: I have a pretty high tolerance for nicotine and have had the Brown Irish X before, it's really good stuff. I tried the SG Black XX from the box and it wasn't bad but I think I like the brown better. I have a bit of Cotton Boll I'll put in the box for comparison with the others, it's really strong stuff.
So far no plague-like symptoms so I think I'm in the clear!

I just smoked a bowl of the 20 year old St. James Woods and am blown away, what a treat! Thanks northernneil! I'm going to order some and if the fresh stuff is half as good as this I will be well pleased.

Hello Hello, I have just moved to Winnipeg from New Zealand and am keen to go a round with the box pass! How do I go about convincing someone to let the box do a lay over in Manitoba?

Hmmm...I don't know?? I've heard about you Manitobans!! :laughat:
Seriously though, it would be great to have you Isaac. Give the rules in the first post a read over and send me your particulars and I can have you on the list for the next go round. :)

The McCranie's Red Ribbon is very nice, too bad it's hard to come by here because I can see putting a couple of tins in the cellar.
It's a quality leaf, a bit tangy for my taste so I was glad to donate an extra tin to the cause! Earlier it was brought up by Shikano that he has ordered from McCranies many times without problem. Give it a shot!
I buy McCranies RR from McCranies directly all the time and have never once had them say, 'They don't ship to Canada'.

Payment is made via Paypal. All you have to do is send an email to Todd McCranie here:

Just an FYI,

I put an order in with McCranies for a couple of tins of RR about ten days ago and according to the tracking number provided it should be here shortly. Todd has updated his website and you can fill out an order just the same way as an other online vendor. The only difference is he will send you an email invoice and you can pay by snail mailing him a check or PayPal. I prefer PayPal

I would recommend registering. Here is my last order

Hope this helps clarify.

@drezz01, @shikano53: Thanks for the info about the McCranie's, I had a look at their site and didn't see an option for international shipping so I assumed I was out of luck.
Well my time with the box is at an end, are you ready for me to send it on @jkrug? I should be able to get it in the mail tomorrow.
I found some winners in that box and have already placed a small order based on some I've sampled. I snagged up on that little 2 pipe stand as I am currently using an egg carton to store my pipes upright. I have an old gun cabinet I plan on using to display my pipes but haven't gotten around to working on it yet so the stand classes up my tobacco shelf a little. I grabbed some small samples to enjoy at a later time and have included some things I hope somebody finds interesting: F&K Merde de Cheval, Germain's Plum Cake Mixture, Sir Walter Raleigh Aromatic, Prince Albert, Cotton Boll Twist, Solani Silver Flake, and G.L. Pease Oddysey.

Sounds like you enjoyed the box sw0snuff3r. Glad you scooped that rack and some samples for later too. I'm good to go so fire when ready. :)
Good news guys, Isaac (mortonbriar) has joined the box pass. I'll update the address list and email it out in the next few days and he'll be in for the next pass. :puffy:

Hello Hello, I have just moved to Winnipeg from New Zealand and am keen to go a round with the box pass! How do I go about convincing someone to let the box do a lay over in Manitoba?

Fellow Winnipeg member here along with Cgrd, send me a pm and maybe we can all get together. I've gotten together with Chris (cgrd) before and maybe it's time to do it again. I like the idea of one of us getting the box, either cgrd or me, we all get together and share, then send it off. Me and Chris did this before with a reddit box pass. My house is a smoking house, Chris is regulated to the garage during the winter months so he doesn't smoke much. -40 right now doesn't appeal to outside smoking.
Actually you meet all the requirements to get into this box pass if you look at the rules.
