I'm quite interested in the XX Flake with the oriental leaf. I really like the oriental quality of Arango Supreme, but am looking for new blend with less latakia (have many of those already) and more oriental. What one other oriental forward blend would people recommend to get as part of a two tin order? Thanks!

Don't have much! @Bowie generously sent me some samples and I'm trying to get into it..
The Carolina red flake gave me novicaine mouth feel.. really odd. The tin note is good though!
I still have Pegasus and VA Gentleman to try.

Skip the Pegasus, it's terribly boring. (Or hell, I'll send you the tin I opened). Try Opening Nights instead. C&D isn't really known for it's VA, but they hit a home run with this one.

Two questions about these new blends:

1. What type of perique? Is it vintage St James or just the more conventional green river burley?

2. Does perique age in any desirable way? What does 18 year old mean flavor wise? What I've read in the past (jiminks and GL Pease) seems to suggest that once perique is out of the barrel, the flavor doesn't really change that much with additional age.

I saw the ad but have no interest in adding any new blends to my cellar. I also have no C&D blends in my cellar. The last thing I want to worry about is moldy tobacco which seems to be an issue for C&D.
Is this still a problem? I know older tins & certain batches have had mold troubles but I would've hoped they'd have sorted it out by now.

I must be super rare. :(
You're not at all rare. A few years back, mentions of C&D in fora, when they happened at all, were dismissive. I don't stock much of it myself as most of what I've sampled didn't make the grade. A few I found to be pretty good, and one is a favorite. IMHO, Virginias are not their strength, though they've improved a bit. And they now have less competition when it comes to Virginias, significantly less competition as McClelland is gone, Gawith, etc are in short supply, and HU isn't distributed domestically.

They've upped their game in the past couple of years with their small batch offerings. They've enjoyed a good reputation for their Burley blends. And they've even finally managed to find lids that fit their tins.
