Buying Multiples of the Same Pipe

I'm wondering if anyone else has liked a particular pipe so much that they bought another one or two?

I was smoking a pipe last week while commuting, my MM Dagner poker, and I realized just how much I like this pipe. The poker shape sits so well either in my ash tray or desk and it's acrylic bit is both long lasting and comfortable for clenching. So to make a long story short, I ordered myself two more Dagner pokers to make three!

After putting in this order, I started thinking about my pipes and I realized I've already done this before. After buying a Rattray's Harpoon Canadian and liking it a lot I immediately ordered another one but this time in red shell.

I also realized that the Dunhill 3109 Canadian may very well be my favorite pipe shape since I have 3 already, and I still want to get one in the County finish and will probably buy a ring grain if a group 3 Canadian I like crosses my path.

Am I the only one buying multiples of the same pipe?

It's a decent hedge against the vagaries of briar, particularly if you have a favorite shape. I've bought and held for far too long pipes that I was very attracted to aesthetically, but weren't good smokers for one reason or another.

Yep, I did this with MM's mini-cob, in anticipation of an inevitable ghosting while making my way through a large array of samples a while back. My main cob is their Dagner Poker, and I enjoy it for the same reasons you do. I should probably get another one as a backup...dammit, you're nothing but a PAD enabler!

I liked the Dr. Grabow Freehand so much I have 2 in different finishes. For now that's the only duplicate I have. I don't see myself buying the same pipe with the same finish though.

Favorite shape is a 4-hole Kaywoodie 99B (1/4 bent bullcap). Have a dozen of them .

Duplicate cobs, of course. I have a few Sav 606's and 904's in different finishes. I wish I could go back in time and buy a dozen Comoys 589's.

At one time I had over 50 Savinelli 904s and their three variant shapes prior to Savinelli ruining the design by topping the bowl and making the shank wider.

MM Zenon hardwood, standard bent bit - my favorite pipe. I have one that I smoke often and several in reserve in case he dies. I have plenty of cobs in reserve too, particularly the 5th Ave Legend/Washington, Diplomat Apple, and Little Devil Cutty (all of my favorite shapes).

I have a few duplicates, but not an entire collection devoted to one particular model. It's not uncommon, either a particular model or a particular shape. Collecting come in many forms.
