So the quality of the vulcanite actually contributes to the dating of the pipe. Thats really cool!
Think of it as part of its history. What dates it for me is the nomenclature. The particular COM stamp was used in the late 30’s and early 40’s, and rarely after that. Also, there’s no “FOSSIL” stamp as was used after the war, nor a “NIBBLICK” stamp as was used in the 30’s. Barling added sandblast to their product offerings in 1943.
