Briar Blues on YouTube gave some good advice. He said to not fill your bowl up to the top to prevent excessive rim darkening. I took it to heart and always leave about 3/16” space. I also use soft match flame lighters, Corona and Kiribi.
The rims of my pipes have stayed pretty clean.
When I do clean, I use a Qtip and saliva.

what do you recommend for a textured rim.I have just bought this pipe and can see some darkening in the photos.i have not yet received the pipe.
